Dear Community Partner:

Vision Charter School is undertaking a project to build a fitness track on campus. Vision Charter School is a K-12 Arts and Science college-prep school, established in the fall of 2007 as a public charter school that operates independently. We strive to produce well-educated, respectful citizen leaders. The current K-12 enrollment is approximately 690 students with approximately 50 full time staff members. The students at Vision Charter School represent a cross-section of Middleton, Caldwell, Nampa, and a number of other Treasure Valley communities.

The mission of this project is to encourage healthy living and healthy habits in our students and staff. Healthy habits result in so much more than just physical health; they are also positively correlated with social-emotional health in students. Physical activity increases oxygen movement, allowing students to more fully and effectively access education. We will incorporate walking challenges to boost the interest in utilizing the path. We hope that these fitness activities posted around the path will encourage enthusiasm for fitness and excitement to utilize this path. Additionally, we will host events inviting families to come out and try out the fitness path. Our school is located in a rural area and has limited access to safe places for students, staff, and families to walk or participate in physical activities. The primary roads surrounding our school are unsafe for travel due to speed limits and a lack of sidewalks. Additionally, there are no parks, greenbelts, or other schools in close proximity providing facilities for fitness activities in the neighborhood. This walking path will open our campus to safe activities students can do with their families, creating a stronger community connection. Finally, a walking path is the perfect way to access physical fitness at all fitness levels and all ages. You do not need to be "athletically inclined" to take advantage and enjoy the walking path and fitness suggestions along the route. The biggest impact is made when no person is excluded from potential benefit. This project is inclusive of all and we hope will make an impact on all lives in our community.

Our total required funding is $40,000: $3,824 (fitness sign materials and installment), $14,094 (Asphalt), $11,820 (Base Gravel), $7,062 (Excavation), $3,200 (Mobilization from Idaho Sand and Gravel). Any contribution to fund this project would be greatly appreciated. We are happy to honor your organization with a sign designating you as helping to make this fitness track possible with a minimum donation of $1,000. All donations are tax deductible. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact us.

Thank you for your consideration,
