SCHOOL CLOSURES/ SNOW DAYS:

IN THE EVENT OF SCHOOL CLOSURE OR EMERGENCY CLOSURE: The most accurate updated information can be found on our Facebook page and our website at visioncharterschool.net. We will also send out updates via this newsletter. If you would like to receive our newsletters, you may sign up on our website.

You may also check updates on KTVB channel 7 and KBOI channel 2.

We will send school closure information through our automated emergency contact program.

We are aware that many families are traveling a long distance daily to get to VCS. In the event of snow and ice, we prefer that you and your family come late to school and be safe rather than rush to avoid a tardy and potentially encounter dangerous traffic situations. Therefore, we will not count your child absent as long as they are at school NO LATER than 10 a.m. daily during harsh weather conditions. Please notify the attendance clerk when signing in that the tardy was due to road conditions. Tardies will always be excused during bad weather days. This grace period only applies on bad weather days. Your safety is our first priority! (Your child will still be responsible to make up missed work from any class per the attendance policy.)

Warm Clothes:

Please send your child in warm clothes during the winter months. Students travel to and from the gym and music throughout the day and need to have proper attire for all kinds of temperatures and conditions. If it is above 19 degrees out, the students will be outside getting their wiggles out. Please check the weather to ensure the kids are properly dressed.

Robotics Students ROCK Regionals!

Vision Charter School sent two teams to the First Lego League Robotics regionals this weekend in Fruitland, Oregon. The "Gravity Bots" (4th-6th grade team) earned the Judges Award and came in fourth overall!

The "Techno Troopers" (8th grade team) came in first place with 185 points! They earned the Champions Award and the Robot Performance Award!

Both teams are advancing to state which will be held Saturday, January 17th in Twin Falls at University of Idaho.

GIVING TREE:

The National Honor Society is sponsoring our annual Christmas Giving Tree in order for some wonderful families to have a very merry Christmas!  There are items listed on the backs of ornaments on trees in both campus offices that you may come and pick up.  Once an ornament is taken, we will assume that you will be purchasing that item.  If for some reason, you take an ornament, and then are unable to purchase the item, please contact us so we can put a replacement ornament back on the tree.  Please bring back all items, UNWRAPPED, by Thursday, December 18th at noon.

If you aren't able to come in person to get an ornament, but still want to purchase something, please contact Sheree Knapp at 455-9220 ext. 310 and she can verbally tell you the items that are still available.  If you have any other questions, please also contact Sheree Knapp.

We thank you in advance for your generosity.
