Dear Parents,

This letter is to inform you of an accident that occurred after school today at approximately 3:40 p.m. near Wells and Lincoln road. Bus #6 was hit by a truck that backed up out of a driveway into the road. The impact caused the bus to go off the side of the road and impact with a fence. 

The bus had 37 students on it at the time. All of the students are fine and either sustained no injury or minor injuries. The bus driver is being seen by a doctor for an injured hand.

As I joined the students at the scene of the accident about 3:50, I was so impressed with the kindness and compassion shown by the paramedics, firemen, and police officers who cared for our students. The older children on the bus also immediately cared for and comforted the younger children.  All of the children are to be commended for the way that they handled themselves in this situation. Thank you to Mrs. Moretti who arrived shortly after I did and began assisting students in calling parents and caring for kids.

Thank you to Caldwell Transportation for the quick manner that they responded in getting another back up bus and driver.
