TEACHER APPRECIATION:

 

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! An email or a card from a student or parent warms the heart of a teacher! 

 

 

VCS BOARD ELECTIONS:

 

This year we have multiple board members up for re-election. These board members will be running again for their positions as incumbents. Elections, voting procedures, and candidates will be announced the end of May via the e-mail newsletter and the website. Please direct all questions to Mrs. OldenKamp at wendyroldenkamp@msn.com.  Anyone interested in running for a position on the Vision Charter School Board must fill out the VCS Board Member Application available in the VCS office and return it to the school no later than Friday, May 16, 2014.

TALENT SHOW/ LETTERING/ SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT!

 

Come to the Talent Show at 6 pm on Thursday, May 8 and witness some amazing acts performed by Vision students. This Talent Show is set to be the best ever. The acts are diverse and of exceptional caliber. From singing (even in Latin) to comedy to musical instruments to dance, the night is sure to provide plenty of entertainment. A brief intermission will honor students earning a letter for VCS activities. Stay after the show to help celebrate our Senior students and their accomplishments during their time at VCS. 

 

 

 

 

 

DATES TO KNOW: 

 

Thursday, May 8: Middle and High School Talent Show begins at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. Senior Awards will be given out after the Talent Show. The Lettering Ceremony will be during intermission at the Talent Show.

 

Friday, May 9: The advanced guitar/songwriting class will be performing at the Birdstop in Caldwell on Friday May 9th from 7-8:30, there will be a $3 cover charge.  

Tuesday, May 13:  Advanced Symphony pops concert, senior Symphony recognition and awards, and refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. Honors Choir pops concert and awards will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the gym.

Wednesday, May 14: Board Meeting in the library starting at 5:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, May 15: Elementary Science Fair, dinner for sale, Math Carnival, PFA Auction and Raffle from 4-7p.m. at the VCS secondary building.

 

Friday, May 16th: 4th and 5th grade students will be traveling to Liberty Charter for the "Monster RAD Rally". 

 

Sunday, May 18: Seniors depart for their Senior Trip. They will return on Thursday, May 22nd.  Students will be going to Santa Cruz, California!

 

Monday, May 19: 4th & 5th graders perform "Race Against Drugs!" at 7:00 p.m. in the gym

 

Tuesday, May 20:  6th grade band, orchestra, and choir final concert 7:00 p.m. in the gym.

 

Tuesday, May 20: Last Day Seniors

 

Thursday, May 22: K-6th Field Day times are as follows: K-1 from 8:30 -9:30, 2-3 from 9:30-10:30, 4-5 from 12:45-1:45, 6th from 1:45-2:45.

 

Friday, May 23: Last Day of School K-11th grade Early Release 1:40

Awards ceremonies will be held in the gym during the following times:

7th and 8th from 12:50 -1:20, 9th -11th from 8:30-9:05,  K-3rd from 9:15-9:44, and 4th-6th from 9:55-10:25. You will be notified in advance if your child is receiving an award during these assemblies.

 

Saturday, May 24: Graduation practice at 10 a.m. and Graduation at 7 p.m. at the Nampa Civic Center  

 

 

 

SENIOR GRADUATION PARTY:

 

To Whom It May Concern:

 

The parents and friends of Vision Charter School are putting on a Senior Party for the graduating class of 2014 following their graduation ceremony.  The students have worked hard all year and we would like to celebrate their efforts, allowing them a chance for lasting memories with their classmates.

We are looking for donations to support this event. Donations are tax deductible and we are able to provide you with a receipt of donation upon your request. We will accept monetary donations toward the activities of the party or donations to help in the prizes and goodies given to the students. Note the following examples:

SOCIOLOGY:  
Congratulations to Mr. Leavell! He was just approved to teach Dual Credit Sociology for BSU at Vision Charter School next year! This course will be offered as a year long high school class. Students will also be able to earn college credits through the completion of this course. Way to go, Mr. Leavell! 

BSU Workshops for Students
  • July 14-18, 2014
    Honors Summer Experience
     - For high school students who will be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade in fall 2014. Each day the students will combine classroom experiences taught by Boise State and Honors College faculty with the experience of living in the Honors residence hall. Participants will get a sample of typical Honors courses across a variety of disciplines, each one encouraging them to explore and expand their perspective. Beyond the classroom, they also will get to sample the kinds of activities that Honors students regularly engage in: lab work, field trips, plays, movie night at Driscoll Hall and leadership activities.   • July 31, 2014
    Interdisciplinary Research for High School Students
     - A series of workshops for high school students in grades 10, 11, and 12. 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday, with a scheduled presentation from NASA Astronaut, Wendy Lawrence at 6-7 p.m. Meals will be provided.   • August 14-15, 2014
    Academic Writing Bootcamp
     - A workshop designed for Junior and Senior high school students. This two-day workshop will help high school students gain a better understanding of academic writing. It is designed to introduce students to writing principles that can be applied to a wide range of writing situations - from the college entrance essay to the ever popular Senior Paper. Registration Cost: $25. 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday. BSU Workshops for Both Teachers and Students
  • June 19-20, 2014
    Coding is Cool Workshop
     - A workshop for high school teachers and high school students in grades 9th-12th. This two-day workshop will introduce computer science and coding to high school students and high school teachers who are interested in learning more about computer science. Registration Cost: $25. 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday. Enrollment is limited to 20. Registration deadline is June 12. Professional Development Credit is optional - cost $60.
