YOU ARE INVITED TO OPEN HOUSE Friday, September 20th

 

Kindergarten through second grade, fifth and sixth grade, and Mrs. McDorman's fourth grade will have a "drop in" Open House from 4-6 p.m.

 

Third grade and Ms. Willson (4th) will be offering sit down sessions at the following times.

4-4:30, 4:30-5, 5-5:30, 5:30-6 p.m.

 

7th-12th grade will be offering thirty minute sessions for parents to learn more about how to help their child be successful in our college prep program. Sessions will start at 4 and last 25 minutes with a five minute passing period.

 

Mr. Scheffler and Mr. McDougall will be discussing Dual Credit Courses in room 109.

 

Mrs. Mitchell and Mr. George will be discussing the educational use and benefit of EDMODO. This session will be in room 111.

 

Mr. Berg will be in the Tech Room discussing PE and Fitness.

 

Ms. Vance and Mr. Boothby will be in room 112 discussing the benefits of "Advisory".

 

Ms. Radmall will be in the library with Sue Lovelace from STEP AHEAD IDAHO at 5 p.m. sharp.

 

Mrs. Ellis will be available on the stage from 4-4:30. She will also be available from 4:30-6 p.m. in portable G1.

 

All senior parents are invited to meet with Mr. George in his room from 5:30-6 p.m. to discuss the senior trip! Mr. George's room is 106.

 

College Start Night:Sue Lovelace from Step Ahead Idaho is coming to Vision Charter's Open House to give us a presentation on how to get your student started for college. This presentation is geared for Seniors and their parents and what to do in order start the college application process. This presentation will take place at 5:00 p.m. on September 20, 2013 in the Library of the secondary building.

Grab your lawn chairs, jackets and blankets, load up the kids, and meet us on the Vision Charter School lawn for an evening of entertainment under the stars.

Dual Credit Registration and Deadline Information:

 

Fall CWI courses (Western Civilization and US History)-

CWI registration: September 27, 2013

CWI payment: October 25, 2013

Students will be provided registration packets with all necessary documents. In order to register and pay for classes, CWI is now requiring students to drop off these registration materials at the Dual Credit office located at 5500 East Opportunity Dr, Nampa, ID 83687. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.

 

Fall and year-long NNU courses (Musical Theatre, A&P, and Economics)-

NNU registration/ payment: November 15, 2013 

You may register for NNU courses through the packets given at VCS or go to nnu.edu/concreg to register and pay online. 

 

Stony Brook Marine Science- deadline to register and pay October 15, 2013.

 

**All year-long and second semester CWI courses will be registered and paid for in the Spring. The Spring deadline for payment will be March 21, 2014. Courses include (VCS titles): Biology, Spanish 1 and 2, English 11 and 12, Physics, Chemistry, Am. Government, 2nd sem. US History, 2nd sem. Western Civ, Algebra 2, Pre-Calc, and Calc.

 

**IDLA courses and IEN course deadlines will be discussed by the instructor for the course as dual credit institutions will vary. CSI Dual Credit Registration needs to be done by Sept. 27.

 


AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP:

If you are picking your child up from school and would like to park and get out to pick up your child(ren), please go to the elementary parking lot and park. Please walk up towards building A. The staff member located their will check your ID until they know you and then call your children for you.   This procedure increases the safety of all students.  **Please see the video outlining these procedures at visioncharter.net.

PSAT

 

The PSAT test date will be Wednesday, October 30th.  Spots will be given to 7th-11th grade parents who have contacted Mrs. Lair at erinlair@visioncsd.org to reserve a spot for your child and turned in a check to the office made out to Vision Charter School for $14. Please put PSAT in the memo line.

All 10th graders will be taking the PSAT on October 30th at no cost. The tenth grade test is being paid for by the State Department of Ed.


FARMSTEAD FUNDRAISER:

Come join us for family fun on October 3rd. Entry to Farmstead will only be $4 if you mention you are with Vision Charter School and only $3 for those wearing spirit wear.Farmstead will open at noon and the "pig kissing" event will happen at 7 p.m. on October 3rd. More information will be coming about how to vote for your favorite staff member to KISS THE PIG!
