Middle and High School Spirit Week!

 

Student Leadership has planned for next week (9/9-9/13) to be Spirit Week at VCS.  ONLY Grades 7-12 will be involved in the Spirit Week themed dress days.

 ONLY Grades 9-12 will be involved in Pep Night on Friday, 9/13 @ 6:00pm, in the gym.

 

Spirit Week schedule:

Monday - Pajama Day

Tuesday - Twin Day

Wednesday - 80's Day

Thursday - Favorite Character Day (TV/Movie/Video Game)

Friday - Neon Day

 

FRIDAY is a Jeans Day and will be $1 donation, as normal.  If students choose not to participate in Neon Day or Jeans Day, they are free to wear school dress code apparel.

 

ALL WEEK - Students can choose to wear the theme of the day, if they do not choose to wear the theme, they must wear school dress code apparel.

**NO Facepainting or masks allowed.  Footwear must still be school appropriate per VCS dress code safety standards. ALL DRESS MUST BE APPROPRIATE FOR MODESTY STANDARDS.

  

Pep Night will consist of class spirit competitions (grades 9-12).  The competition events are as follows:

1. Skit - Maximum 6 minutes

2. Song

3. Backdrop - Must be freestanding and max. of  8' x 8'

4. Class Quote or Motto

5. Dance Competition - 4 minute maximum, music and dance must be pre-approved by Advisor

 

 


Dual Credit Registration and Deadline Information:

 

Fall CWI courses (Western Civilization and US History)-

CWI scholarships: September 13, 2013

CWI registration: September 27, 2013

CWI payment: October 25, 2013

 

Students will be provided registration packets with all necessary documents. In order to register and pay for classes and apply for scholarships, CWI is now requiring students to drop off these registration materials at the Dual Credit office located at 5500 East Opportunity Dr, Nampa, ID 83687. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.

 

Fall and year-long NNU courses (Musical Theatre, A&P, and Economics)-

NNU registration/ payment: November 15, 2013 

You may register for NNU courses through the packets given at VCS or go to nnu.edu/concreg to register and pay online. 

 

Stony Brook Marine Science- deadline to register and pay October 15, 2013.

**All year-long and second semester CWI courses will be registered and paid for in the Spring. The Spring deadline for payment will be March 21, 2014. Courses include (VCS titles): Biology, Spanish 1 and 2, English 11 and 12, Physics, Chemistry, Am. Government, 2nd sem. US History, 2nd sem. Western Civ, Algebra 2, Pre-Calc, and Calc.

 

**IDLA courses and IEN course deadlines will be discussed by the instructor for the course as dual credit institutions will vary. IDLA courses begin Monday, September 9, 2013. Please immediately inquire with your IDLA or IEN instructor about deadlines for dual credit registration. CSI Dual Credit Registration needs to be done by Sept. 27.


AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP:

If you are picking your child up from school and would like to park and get out to pick up your child(ren), please go to the elementary parking lot and park. Please walk up towards building A. The staff member located their will check your ID until they know you and then call your children for you.   This procedure increases the safety of all students.  **Please see the video outlining these procedures at visioncharter.net.

SWIM TEAM: 

  Help me congratulate the 2013-2014 VCS High School Swim Team on a successful first swim meet.  Our team members Justin Blickenstaff, Aubrey LaBabera, Austin Claus, Catie Callahan, Will Flatt, Maddie Baughn, William Wallace, Aubree Krause, Brandon Rowe and Kat Pyle have worked very hard these last few weeks, dedicating hours a day to practicing their craft.  Our next meet is on Thursday, September 12th at the Nampa Rec Center at 5:15pm.  Drop by and cheer on the team as they try to beat the qualifying times for the State Tournament!

PSAT

 

The PSAT test date will be Wednesday, October 30th.  Spots will be given to 7th-11th grade parents who have contacted Mrs. Lair at erinlair@visioncsd.org to reserve a spot for your child and turned in a check to the office made out to Vision Charter School for $14. Please put PSAT in the memo line.

All 10th graders will be taking the PSAT on October 30th at no cost. The tenth grade test is being paid for by the State Department of Ed.
