Greetings!

Thank you for your amazing patience and support today as we worked with Canyon County Sheriff's Department to ensure the safety of VCS's 550 kindergarten through twelfth grade students. The police created a perimeter around our school and worked tirelessly to assist the school in keeping children safe throughout the entire day.

Thank you to staff who successfully kept parents informed through our newsletter, website, and facebook account during the entire situation.

I highly recommend connecting to our facebook site to receive immediate updates regarding the school. In addition, if you are not receiving our weekly email newsletters, please sign up for newsletters via the website (www.visioncharter.net). This will provide you immediate updates through email.

Thank you to the secretaries for answering calls without ceasing from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. today! They were a constant source of reassurance and information for all of the parents calling the school.

Thank you to the Canyon County Sherriff's department officers, the K9 division, and Detective Gerdes for the support and protection throughout the entire day!

The administration is researching a system that will send automatic texts to all interested families in the event of emergency situations or school closures. We will keep you updated regarding this communication option via the newsletter, facebook, and the website. As soon as we can roll this out, we will notify you so that you can sign up if interested.

I would like to personally praise and thank the Vision Charter School staff and students for their actions today. The Sherriff's department is praising the school for how they managed this "situation" today.

Every single policeman and staff member at Vision Charter School was working to ensure the safety of our greatest treasures. Please hug your kids and thank a police officer and your child's teacher!

Sincerely,

Mrs. OldenKamp
