LOTTERY INFORMATION:

 

Vision Charter School is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year! Vision Charter School will hold its lottery for enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 in room C1.

Applications may be found here: Download an application. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 13, 2013 and if hand delivered, no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013. Applications received after March 15 at 4:00 p.m. will be placed into the pool for the following year and at the bottom of the wait list for each grade level.

 

Vision Charter School is a FREE K-12 College Prep Science and Art School! Vision Charter School offers students a small and safe school environment. Its accelerated and advanced curriculum is rooted in a classical education and emphasizes character and leadership development, arts and science instruction, gifted and talented curriculum for all students, and music training. Qualifying high school students at VCS are offered dual credit college classes.

 

VCS is adding another full day kindergarten class next year.  In addition, Vision Charter School is adding another first, second, third, and fourth grade class.  Now is the best time to turn in an application and invest in the future of your child!

 

All prospective students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the FREE public charter school, regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, social or economic status, or special needs.

**Parents of incoming kindergarten students need to fill out an application and submit it in the same process as all other applicants. 

 

EARLY RELEASE CONTINUES ON WEDNESDAYS! K-12th grade students will be released every Wednesday one hour earlier than usual. Release time is 2:10 p.m. every Wednesday.  

FREE SAT PREP CLASS:

 

The FREE SAT PREP CLASS is coming our way! VCS pays for interested juniors and seniors to take this SAT prep class. This course starts on March 11th and runs through April 12th.  The course is offered at VCS through the Idaho Educational Network teleconferencing technology.  The class runs from 7-8 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays for four weeks. If you or child is interested in securing a spot, please contact Mrs. Lair at erinlair@visioncsd.org.  We have ten FREE spots on a first come, first serve basis for juniors and seniors at VCS.

This four-week course provides an overview of the SAT, teaches test taking strategies specific to the SAT, and offers practice SAT tests. This course equips students with the tools they need to be successful on the SAT as well as helping them to identify their weak areas and directing them to resources that can help them make their weak areas strong. 

 

 

LUNCHES:  

The window to order March hot lunches is open February 12th through February 26th at midnight. You may place your order through orderlunches.com website. The school password is vcs177 if you are new to this website.

All payment for March lunches must be received in the front office by end of day on February 28th at 3:30 p.m.

As a reminder - if your child is going to be tardy, please contact the office by 8:30a.m. Otherwise, we will assume your student(s) will be absent that day and may cancel their lunch(es).

21st Century Classroom Technology Innovation and Integration Video Award:  

Vision Charter School's fifth grade teacher, LeAnn Castor, won second place in the State of Idaho for Technology Innovation and Integration Video award. She will receive $1000 towards Classroom Technology! Way to go, Mrs. Castor. 

GO VCS!

 

VCS HIGHSCHOOL ROBOTICS:  The Vision Charter School High School Robotics Team is competing at the University of Idaho on February 16, 2013 in the FTC "RING IT UP" Challenge. GO VCS!

 

SNOW TEAM:

Vision Charter School High School Ski and Snow team students compete this Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Dottie Clark Tournament. GO VCS!

 

POETRY OUT LOUD CONTEST

February 1st, we held our second annual Poetry Out Loud competition after school with Mr. Leavell, Mrs. Lair, Mrs. Collins, and Miss Radmall acting as judges. From those 10 high school competitors, Hannah Samuelson and Ruthanne Hatchett will be advancing to the Poetry Out Loud semi-final competition at Kuna High this Saturday, the 16th, at 4:00. If a finalist there, they will advance to the State Competition in Boise. The top two finalists at state get to travel to Washington D.C. for the National Competition. Students must memorize two to three poems to recite in front of a live audience. Come cheer on our competitors!
