Correction:

 

The previous newsletter titled "VCS News February 6, 2013" contained text that read "SCHOOL CANCELED".  This was an artifact from last email newsletter canceling school.  Please ignore that email and use this one as a replacement.  

 

LOTTERY INFORMATION:

 

Vision Charter School is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year! Vision Charter School will hold its lottery for enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 in room C1.

Applications may be found here:  Download an application.. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 13, 2013 and if hand delivered, no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013. Applications received after March 15 at 4:00 p.m. will be placed into the pool for the following year and at the bottom of the wait list for each grade level.

 

Vision Charter School is a FREE K-12 College Prep Science and Art School! Vision Charter School offers students a small and safe school environment. Its accelerated and advanced curriculum is rooted in a classical education and emphasizes character and leadership development, arts and science instruction, gifted and talented curriculum for all students, and music training. Qualifying high school students at VCS are offered dual credit college classes.

 

VCS is adding another full day kindergarten class next year.  In addition, Vision Charter School is adding another first, second, third, and fourth grade class.  Now is the best time to turn in an application and invest in the future of your child!

 

All prospective students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the FREE public charter school, regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, social or economic status, or special needs.

**Parents of incoming kindergarten students need to fill out an application and submit it in the same process as all other applicants. 

 

FAFSA OPEN LAB NIGHT

 

For Seniors and parents that need help or have extra questions regarding Federal Student Aid application process Vision Charter is offering an open lab night Thursday February 7, from 6-8pm. We will have computers available to get online and complete the FAFSA. Please come prepared with parental tax information, social security number, birthdates etc. It will be held in room G2, Mrs. Mitchell's classroom. Please contact our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Radmall, at candiceradmall@visioncsd.org if you have any questions. 

 

EARLY RELEASE CONTINUES ON WEDNESDAYS! K-12th grade students will be released every Wednesday one hour earlier than usual. Release time is 2:10 p.m. every Wednesday.  

FREE SAT PREP CLASS:

 

The FREE SAT PREP CLASS is coming our way! VCS pays for interested juniors and seniors to take this SAT prep class. This course starts on March 11th and runs through April 12th.  The course is offered at VCS through the Idaho Educational Network teleconferencing technology.  The class runs from 7-8 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays for four weeks. If you or child is interested in securing a spot, please contact Mrs. Lair at erinlair@visioncsd.org.  We have ten FREE spots on a first come, first serve basis for juniors and seniors at VCS.

This four-week course provides an overview of the SAT, teaches test taking strategies specific to the SAT, and offers practice SAT tests. This course equips students with the tools they need to be successful on the SAT as well as helping them to identify their weak areas and directing them to resources that can help them make their weak areas strong.

If you would like to receive our newsletters, you may sign up on our website. You may also check updates on Channel 2, 12, 6, and 7.  

CARPOOL INTEREST:

PFA meeting: Please plan on attending the PFA meeting on February 7, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in Building M.

 

Board Meeting: The VCS Board Meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in room M3. Tuesday, February 12, 2013
