ROLLER DROME VCS SKATE NIGHT ON DECEMBER 4th :

We had so much fun at the last skate night that 6th grade has scheduled another VCS SKATE NIGHT!! Mark your calendars and bring your family, friends, and neighbors to the Nampa Roller Drome on Tuesday, December 4th from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. The cost is $5 (extra $2 if you need to rent skates or roller blades.) Vision Charter School earns money back from each skater. What a fun way to earn money for VCS and support the all night 6th grade graduation party!

Financial Aid Night

Seniors that need help filling out their FAFSA application, this is for you! Katie Gepford from CWI is coming to Vision on Tuesday, December 11th @ 6:00pm in G2 to help seniors and parents get started on their Financial Aid Applications. We will be taking a step-by-step approach to the 2012-2013 online application. This will make it easier for filling out the 2013-2014 school year application that is due Feb 15, 2013. Students will need to come prepared with their own tax information from 2011 if they have been working, social security number, and parent's information such as name, date of birth, social security numbers, 2011 tax information etc. We will then be following up with an open lab night Feb 7, 2013 @ 6:00 p.m. to help you complete your application for 2013-2014 school year.

ONLINE BOOK FAIR:  The Vision Charter School book fair will be open online through December 10, 2012. The website is http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/visioncharterschool1

Thank you to all who purchased books at the book fair this weekend. We raised $300 for books at the Holiday Bazaar.

HELP FOR THE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM:

Mrs. Ellis would appreciate help with some simple sets and costumes for the elementary Christmas program. This year we are doing "The Nutcracker: A Youth Musical". Some simple hats and masks are needed, as well as an arch-way for the Kingdom of Sweets. She has the materials for this set; however, she needs help putting it together. Please contact Mrs. Ellis at debraellis@visioncsd.org as soon as possible if you are willing to take on one of these projects. Thank you so much!

A PINK Christmas Benefit Concert starts at 5 p.m. at Valley Church in Caldwell on Friday, December 14.  The entrance fee is $10 a family or $2 a person. All funds will go to benefit Mr. George's wife's fight against cancer.

THE CHRISTMAS STORE:

The fourth grade class will be hosting a Christmas Store on Wednesday, December 5th and Thursday, December 6th. It will be held in the 4th grade classroom (K1). Students may bring money and purchase items from the store during their lunch recess. All items will be $1.00 each. For every ten items a student purchases, he or she will get a free item. The money made during the store will help send the fourth grade class to the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City and also attend field trips to a planetarium and nature center.

DECEMBER BOARD MEETING:

The Vision Charter School December Board meeting has been cancelled.

High School Intramurals with Thomas Jefferson School:

The first sport to start off our new inter school rivalry is Co- Ed Volleyball for grades 9-12. It will be six player volleyball. This means each team needs to have eight students on their roster including four boys and four girls. Teams need to decide on an appropriate team name. If you know of anyone ages 18+ (parents, older siblings, friends etc.) who would like to volunteer to help on game days attach their names and contact information to the team roster submission.

One person from each team needs to e-mail the following information to Kay Banks at kaybanks@visioncsd.org. She will be overseeing this first intramural sport. The deadline for submission is Friday, December 6, 2012. The e-mail must include the roster, team name, and any volunteer contact information.
