As I write this, it is snowing in Wears Valley. In fact, much of the country is dealing with a major storm! What looks beautiful in our mountain valley is causing havoc elsewhere. Christmas is somewhat like that. For some it is "the most wonderful time of the year." For others, it is an annual struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts. While some are focused on mythical reindeer and sleigh bells, the reality is that the birth of one tiny child has completely changed the course of history. While many are busy advancing competing agendas, our annual gift giving echoes the reality of the greatest gift in all of history. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life."

Those of us who are blessed to be a part of the Wears Valley Ranch family witness the miracle of God's grace in numerous ways all year long. Hearts are healed and lives transformed in every season. Still, this time of year is special. At Christmas, a joyous anticipation fills the hearts and minds of the children. They are excited about special gifts, special foods and special memories. They enjoy a break from school and visits with loved ones. But I can honestly report that the best part of Christmas is seeing children discover what the holiday is really all about. We watch the glad realization that God loves them! I see them singing ancient carols with feeling, because for the first time they understand that the message is true.

Your generous support is a vital part of these miracles. We have no debt and do not accept government funds. We are sustained by the gifts of the grateful. We see in your support the love God has for the children. Every year we need a miracle. Every year, God keeps us dependent on Him. As I have said before, we can't give what we don't have. Thank you for giving what you can. I pray that God will grant you a joyous Christmas and a blessed New Year!
