We encourage you to this information with other 8th grade families. If you are not currently on our mailing list, you can sign up by clicking here. If you have questions about anything mentioned in this newsletter and there is no contact information provided, please call the Main Office at 272-3033. PTSA
Welcome to Plant High School. My name is Alysia Ekizian and I am honored to be serving as your PTSA President for the 2015-16 school year. Please plan on attending the Freshmen and New Student Orientation. This event is a terrific kickoff to the new school year: have fun at the pep rally, meet the administration and teachers, and walk through your student's class schedule. Then come by the PTSA booth in the cafeteria. My committee and I look forward to meeting you and encourage you to join and volunteer in the organization that serves the students, staff and parents. We will be selling PDQ gift cards again this year - our most popular fundraiser! Follow us on for news and updates.

Academic Foundation
Welcome rising Panthers! The Academic Foundation has been supporting teachers, students and education at Plant High School for over 25 years. We hope you will join us in the fall and help to continue this proud tradition. Our members' and business partners' generosity allowed the foundation to put over $70,000 back into our classrooms last year. Please visit our website to learn more about these grants, read about membership and business partner opportunities, and see the enriching programming offered to the community at our monthly meetings. Feel free to email Brooke Melendi, incoming president, if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting you in August!
|
Athletic Foundation
Join the Athletic Foundation today and support "The Team Behind the Teams!" All membership dollars raised go back to our teams, allowing our coaches to purchase the items they feel are necessary for their programs. Your support enriches the experience for our student athletes. Please visit our website to review our membership levels and their benefits, as well as other information regarding the Athletic Foundation. If you have any questions regarding membership, please email membershipPAF@gmail.com. The PAW is open with great merchandise for all Panther fans! Our products can be purchased on our website. We will also have our new fall items available at the Open House on August 20th.

2015-16 Schedules - Guidance Information
Students will receive their fall schedules by mail in early August. Along with the schedule, you will find information about days and times to make necessary schedule corrections prior to the start of school. The changes made in August will be limited to academic necessity, because the master schedule will be finalized and classes will be filled.
|
Community Service
You may begin earning community service hours this summer. Service hours are not required for graduation, but students need service hours to qualify for National Honor Society and Bright Futures scholarships. Community service guidelines, proposal forms, and service hour logs are available on the Guidance page of Plant's website. As long as the service projects meet the guidelines, students will not need to have proposals approved in advance. Students can submit their completed paperwork to their counselors in the fall.

Florida Virtual School
If you wish to take an online course this summer, please register at www.flvs.net. Once you have completed the registration steps and requested a course, a Plant staff member will verify your request. Once your request has been verified, you must wait for Florida Virtual School to assign you to a class. Just log in regularly and check your course status. 'CA' indicates that your class has been activated and that you will be hearing from your teacher soon. This process can take quite a while in the summer, depending on course availability. Please direct all of your questions about the status of your course to FLVS by calling (407) 513-3587. Important note: If you registered for your FLVS class as an 8th grade student with your middle school as your designated school, you must update your profile. Change your grade to 9 and your school to Plant Senior High School. If you do not update your profile, we will not receive your completed grade and Plant will not award you credit for your online course.
