It's the Weekly What? for Friday, February 22nd

Even after all these years, you're still letting us waste your time...

Just when we were starting to worry that we'd found all the "interesting" things out there in the Internets to waste your time on, we discover that we had really just forgotten to turn on our computer! Indeed, folks out there still treat the Inter-Tubes like a truck and just keep dumping stuff on it. Or into it. Whatever... our metaphor is falling apart, let's park this truck on the shoulder of the Infobahn. (Oh, we just hate that term...sorry.) Anyway, we've got another short-n-sweet Weekly What? for you this week, guaranteed to waste less of your time! So go snag one more donut from the break room and then head over to our Facebook page and answer this week's question! "What's one thing that you're passionate about?"

The future of technology that we were denied

We won't spoil anything (cool hat), but take a look at the iPhone that we never got. Actually it's more like a flip-phone, not an iPhone. Anyway, just look at it... It's got a built-in screen! >>

And one key (organization method) to rule them all...

If you're anything like us you've got a whole mess of keys to deal with. Seriously, it gets to be a bit much having to sort through the keys needed to work in this monkey house. (Yes, bananas are kept under lock-and-key: you don't want to see a Writing Room Monkey on a banana bender.) Anyway, this is a fantastic way to organize your keys: LEGO! Any way we can integrate LEGO into our daily lives is fine by us, especially if it's socially acceptable! (As opposed to being 40-something and swooshing a LEGO spaceship around the office and making "Pew-pew!" noises.) The only "problem" we see is giving up LEGO pieces for the project! >>

Digital Marketing Made Easy

Digital what? Digital marketing? What the heck is that?? Settle down, settle down. In most cases "digital" simply means "on the web." But it's not so fundamentally different from plain ol' marketing: You gotta have a plan. Here's a great infographic-y sort of thing that lays it all out step-by-step for you. We couldn't have done it better! One note, though: The author muddles "brand" and "brand identity" a bit. Brand ID is a component of brand. But we digress... if you want to set up a foundation for an online marketing plan, this is a great start. Annnnnnd... GO! Be free! Market yourself! >>

Someone catch us... we're going to faint!

When one of the Writing Room Monkeys turned up this bit of news, we almost dismissed it: "What? Mega-McFood Corp sustainable? What-EVAR!" But then the QR code caught our eye..."They probably have it linking to their full site and thus it'll be virtually unusable on a smartphone." So, expecting a complete corporate branding train wreck we were shocked and delighted to discover that we couldn't have been more wrong in our assumptions. We still think their burgers taste like masking tape, though... >>

Forget Pinterest, Instagram, Vines, whatever... THIS is the thing

Old-timey-looking logos with a retro-feel-appeal. That's right! The "hipster" demographic is the hot one to pursue since they have access to all their parents' money. (How do you say "no" to a child that's 30-something and still lives in your basement?) How to appeal to hipsters? With retro logo design and brand ID elements that recall a past that never existed before their time! Or something like that. Doesn't matter... talking inanimate objects are just too much fun! Oops! Did we let our snark show? >>

The Weekly What? is more fun when you share! It's easy, just click the "Forward email" link below... keep going... a little farther down... there it is! Send this newsletter to a friend! Don't worry, we won't hit them up for money.
