It's the Weekly What? for Friday, December 7th
Did you see the grizzly bears near Pulaski's candy store?
Well, we're getting right down to it. Just another couple of weeks and then we'll all be done with the seemingly never ending string of "mandatory" office parties and bad cake and "white elephant" gift exchanges where someone always manages to pass off a fruitcake. We've all got visions of bonuses dancing in our heads but it's probably just going to wind up being a subscription to the "Jelly of The Month Club." (Sorry, no swimming pools for you!) Before you plunge into the following cornucopia of interweb tidbits, take just a minute or two and stop by our Facebook page to answer this week's question! "What kind of lights do you put on your tree: Clear or colored?"
It's the "What? Gift Guide"
Creative-types can be pretty easy to get a gift for. Creatives (pardon us for using that term) are generally rather curious types that enjoy novelty. CreativePro.com has put together a great list of suggestions for the artist/designer/writer in your life: Check it out. On the opposite end of the "gifting spectrum," we've got a guide that offers advice on what sort of gifts one should never, ever, under any circumstances give to women. Reminds us of last year's Holiday party when we handed out cash gifts to the Writing Room Monkeys... they ate the Jacksons we were handing out. So the cash gift thing shows a lack of thought and consideration. (Yeah, we should have gone with bananas!)
Now for something from the Weekly What? Travel Desk
You know, nothing is worse than being stranded at an airport during the holidays with a nearly infinite number of Writing Room Monkeys all toting their Smith-Coronas in travel cases and jonesing for bananas. But it never pays to lose your cool when dealing with the front-line employees at the check-in counter. Here's three potentially sanity-saving helpful tips for dealing with flight delays: Beware "Rule 240" >>
Cut out your own Star Wars snowflakes!
We're sure you remember (way back in grade school) folding up bits of white construction paper and cutting zig-zags and triangles into the edges and then unfolding it to produce a weird, geometric "snowflake" right? Check out this selection of Star Wars-themed paper snowflake designs. The artist has produced diagrams that you can download, print, and cut out. (Sharp scissors or X-Acto knife recommended.) Cutting these out ain't like dusting crops, boy! >>

Here's the token "work related" article:
Some people are under the impression that nothing will get read unless it's in the form of bullet points. Text gets mercilessly distilled down to a few terse lines. Sometimes that's good: when an idea needs to be communicated quickly "less is more." But when you need to convince, less is sometimes just that: less. Less of an opportunity to make your point, to make a sale, to convince and persuade. All around smart guy Seth Godin makes a good case for careful consideration the next time you want to bring out the chainsaw for some copy editing. Beware of over-simplification >>
The mint makes them Christmas-y: Chocolate mint brownies (gluten-free!)
We're suddenly in the mood for snowball fights followed by lounging around a fireplace and some hot cider. It must be the mint in these brownies. To us, nothing says "Holidays! Snow! Marshmallows!" like mint does. Except for maybe a mug of hot chocolate. Yeah, we're snacky. Hey, you know what else is really cool about these brownies? They're gluten free! (You can easily adapt the recipe for conventional flour if needed). Walking in a minty wonder land! >>
The coolest DIY tree ornaments ever!
A little paint swirled around on the inside of some clear glass bauble ornaments looks fantastic! And super-easy! Gotta love that, right! They'd probably make nice presents, too! Go check it out! >>
Me me me mee me-me-me
Me meh me me-meeee-eee! Me me! >>
