It's the Weekly What? for Friday, November 30th
The Leg Lamp goes in the front window soon!
How about that, huh? November started just a couple of weeks ago and now it's already over. So that means we're entering that special time of year: Major Awards. Mysterious boxes from "Fra-gee-lay." And desperate meetings with the Big Man. The Head Honcho. You know... The Connection. Aw come on! Santa Claus! Woo! I wish Christmas would hurry up and get here! Okay, okay... deep breath. We're not going to get too carried away with all this. Our high school English teacher once cautioned us against "wishing our life away." So one day at a time. As for you folks out there, why don't you click over to our Facebook page and weigh in on this week's question? "What's your favorite Thanksgiving dinner/turkey/potatoes/whatever leftover recipe?"
101 crafty gift ideas!
With all the awesome (and many of them easy-to-do) ideas in this list of DIY gift ideas you're sure to find something for everyone on your list. There's "bath bombs" (we don't really get that), bike innertube wallets, tea light holders, knitted mustaches. Tons of stuff. No excuses. Go knit a mustache!
Oh, before you start making presents for everyone...
Now, before you think to yourself "Oh, cool. I'll check out the cool DIY gift ideas later. Maybe next week or something." we've got a little video we think you should watch about procrastinating. Yes, we know it's kind of funny that we're giving you the business about procrastinating while encouraging you to do something besides getting to work on presents...while you're at the office putting off tackling your In-Box by reading this newsletter... Wait. What are we talking about again? "The science of procrastination" Watch it! And then get to work. On something. >>
And on that note...
All Around Smart Guy Seth Godin wrote another great little blog post about the difference between"persuade" and "convince." One is irrational and based in emotions, the other is logical and based in facts. So the "Science of Procrastination" video was our attempt to convince you that procrastination is something you can overcome. Although, please do continue reading our newsletter! >>

What Disneyland's designers teach us about signaling change with physical cues...
Excuse us while we let our geek flag fly: One of the things that we like about Disneyland is the amount of work put into the environments. The level of craft is obvious almost everywhere you might look. Don't get us wrong, the rides are fun and all but we're the nerds ignoring the Micky and Minnie photo op in favor of scoping out the transitions between "lands," and noting the various styles of lampshades and the funny greek text in the environment props. Check out this brief overview of the article, but be sure to click through to the much longer article. Or not. (Maybe now you know how we feel at football viewing parties!) It's a "visually dense" environment!! >>
Pow! Sock! Biff! It's the "punch out" font!
Sorry. It's not really that kind of "punch out." Here's a font that in meant to be printed and then "punched" out (actually, you have to cut it out). You type out what you want, print it out, and the printed shapes include fold and cut lines. Some folding, a little tape or glue and you have your own, very cool, 3D letters! Jazz up your cube entry with your name in 3D! Yeah. Won't see that level of class on the door to the corner office! Boom! >>
Hey, Adobe InDesign users!
Here's a round up of 20 free scripts for InDesign that are rightly called "must have" by David Blatner at CreativePro.com. We just about fell out of our chairs when we read through the descriptions! Some of the scripts are just that cool. One of our favorites is the CalendarWizard. We've had to make plenty of calendars over the years and this script sounds like it'll make the next one a breeze! There's also a style highlighter, a table merge tool, page exporter... more cool things than you can shake a stick at! Go check 'em out and get productive! >>
But maybe watch that "science of procrastination" video again? Or perhaps get another cup of coffee? Or how about...
