It's the Weekly What? for Friday, October 12th

Time to bring the "om nom nom!"

So it's definitely starting to feel more like fall now. Shorter days, obviously, but when it's 80 degrees out a short day doesn't really mean a whole lot. Anyway, our internal calendar is telling us it's time to start getting ready to hibernate by packing in as many high-calorie (and preferably deep fried) snacks as possible. Hey, just remember: When you're in the break-room stashing extra donuts in your pockets, you're just obeying a biological imperative! So, to prepare for the darker, gloomier (and possibly wetter) days to come, go ahead and lose yourself in this week's issue of the newsletter. When you're done, don't tackle your in-box! Just click over to our Facebook page and leave an answer to this week's question: "What's your favorite kind of cookie?" (Bonus: And should said cookie be a small bite-sized affair or a gargantucookie?)

Ten time-saving tips for Microsoft Outlook

Since you're already wasting time reading this email, we thought we could at least help you offset the lost productivity with some time-saving tips for Outlook. Which is great, because that means more time to waste reading the "Weekly What?" Outlook powers...activate!! >>

Some chalk, some sidewalks, and what have you got?

A recipe for sidewalk chalk fun. Here's a fun little gallery of images depicting the chalk art of David Zinn-- a little googly-eyed critter features prominently, but a chalk squirrel makes an appearance in the hollow of a tree! This makes us want to hit the streets with chalk in hand and add a little "jazzy-doo-ness" to the 'hood! But we'll need to check the weather forecast first... >>

Speaking of the weather forecast...

It's starting to look and feel more like fall...finally. So, with that in mind here's a fantastically easy "infinity" scarf that you can make from an old t-shirt (a reasonably fashionable shirt, mind you) to keep the drafts at bay. How fantastically easy is it? So fantastically easy that if it were any easier it would make itself. Make one this weekend! >>

Paper: It's just so...2009.

Well, not really. Electronic publishing (or "ePublishing") has been around for quite a while, but only within the last few years have the technologies (tablets and "e-readers;" publishing software) made electronic publishing a truly viable alternative to ink-on-paper. It's one thing to say "Hey! I'm reading a book on my phone!" and another to actually read a book on your phone's tiny screen. But with an iPad or Kindle? Suddenly reading an electronic book or magazine is much more like just reading a book or magazine. In this latest article on Creative Pro, author Pariah Burke outlines what works and what doesn't with the Huffington digital magazine. Reading in the bath, however, attains new levels of peril... >>

It's the Halloween Corner!

Okay, we're a couple of weeks into October, so we think it's probably okay to totally lean into the whole Halloween thing. First let's start off with some "Candy Corn Cookie Crunch." Candy Corn and Oreos figure prominently in this concoction (obviously). Then you've got peanuts, M&Ms, pretzels, Reeses Pieces... good grief! We can feel a sugar buzz just thinking about it, but it sure looks like a perfectly easy Halloween treat! We're sure that too much of this stuff will have you just as jumpy as the folks in these photos appear to be. Gosh, whatever's at the "Nightmares Fear Factory" haunted house up there in Niagara Falls, Ontario, must be pretty scary, huh?

Do YOU need some help with time management?

We could make the argument that since you're reading this (still!) you could benefit from some help managing your time. Oh! But that would be kind of like "Oh hello! This is Mr. Pot calling for Mr. Kettle..." (In other words, who are we to talk!) Get back to work, slackers! >>

Cookies are an anytime food...

Superfan Kristin over at Vernier Software alerted us to this fabulous "2 minute cookie." Everybody knows that cookies just out of the oven are best but it's virtually impossible to eat a dozen (yes, of course we'd share!) before the last few are stone cold. So what to do? Make 'em big and one at a time. That way every last cookie will be super-awesome. Got a few minutes? Make a cookie! And then another! And another! Heeeere Cookie Monster! >>

Annnnd with that...

We'll leave you with this short kitchen how-to: Cookie making best practices! >>

The Weekly What? is more fun when you share! It's easy, just click the "Forward email" link below... keep going... a little farther down... there it is! Send this newsletter to a friend! Don't worry, we won't hit them up for money.
