Dear Residential Students and Parents,

Thus far, we have introduced you to several members of our school community who will be playing important roles in our residential students' lives, including Mary Stewart (Senior Residential Coordinator), Andy Johnson (Middle and High School Director) and Ben Brock (Outdoor Education Director).

Today, I would like to introduce you to our second Residential Coordinator, Margaret Major. Please read more about Margaret below. We are thrilled to have Margaret joining our staff.

I would like to correct information related to Riverstone House closure dates that appeared in our most recent newsletter. Please note that Riverstone House will be closed over winter break from Saturday, December 17 at 2:00 PM until Saturday, December 31 at 2:00 PM.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 3. Please download a calendar here for the 2016-2016 school year here. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

We have an additional form related student conduct, transportation, and overnight stays that we need parents to read and sign. You may email a signed .pdf or .jpg directly to Sarah Taylor, our Admissions Assistant.  Please download the form here.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

Sincerely,
null

We would like to introduce you to our second Residential  Coordinator, Margaret Major. Margaret and Mary Stewart will be ensuring the health and well-being of our residential community. We are thrilled to have her joining the Rivestone team!

The mother of two daughters, one currently a senior at Riverstone, Margaret brings to the position of Residential Coordinator extensive experience as a former expatriate and program coordinator, with a long history of engagement in the Boise arts community.

Margaret's professional experience includes almost seventeen years working for the University of Michigan Medical Center as a pediatric unit manager, staff trainer, and quality facilitator. She left the university to provide civilian medical support to the United States Military Training Mission in Saudi Arabia. She leaves a position with the Idaho Legislature, where she has spent the last few years facilitating the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee and managing the office for the division of Budget and Policy Analysis.

She looks forward to supporting our residential students, and to being a part of this exciting new chapter for Riverstone International School.

Welcome Margaret!

We know that you have many questions as you prepare to arrive in Boise. Here are a few answers that we hope are helpful! Please reach out to Bob Carignan, Head of School, or Andy Johnson, Director of the Middle and High Schools, for any additional questions.

Should I share my travel plans with the school?
Yes! Please be sure to email your travel itinerary to Sarah Taylor, Admissions Assistant. She can help coordinate airport pickups.

When do I move in?
Official move-in date is Monday, August 22. Please keep an eye out for more details on the day's activities, location, and specific timeframes.

What meals does the school provide?
The school will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday, and brunch and dinner on the weekends.

We will take students grocery shopping weekly in order to purchase snacks if they wish.

The residence will have a beautiful state-of-art kitchen in which snacks can be stored and prepared. Our Residential Coordinators, Mary and Margaret, will help students with organization of snacks.

When will I know who my roommate is?
We know it's difficult to wait but we are purposefully delaying sharing roommate details until move-in so that everyone meets at the same time! We have are a wonderful group of students joining us and we can't wait to introduce you all to each other!

How will I get from the dorm to the school? Or to shopping if I need something?
As a reminder, we will provide transportation to and from school each day, as well as to school activities. Regularly scheduled shopping trips will take place as well. With our downtown location, we anticipate many group activities to movies, theatres, museums, shopping, or restaurants that will be within walking distance of the dorm.

What is the dorm name?
You may have noticed that we are calling our new dorm, Riverstone House. We've chosen this because your dorm is much more than a building. We know that our school community will become not only your home, but your family.

We are planning many activities that include our day students so that you have lots of opportunities to soak up American and Idaho culture, while making lifelong friends. We want Riverstone International School be a wonderful place for you to make friends and grow, academically and personally.

Within Riverstone House, our gathering space is called Basecamp, a reference to the fact that we anticipate many adventures launching from this area. Whether it's getting together for a pizza dinner or group trip to the movies, or preparing for a Riverstone outdoor trip, we'll meet at Basecamp and venture onward together!

When will I receive my class schedule?
Classes are taken from 8:30 AM - 3:05 PM each day. Students will receive their individual schedules on the first day of school, Monday, August 29.

What should I be packing?
Be sure to download our suggested packing list here!

When will the dorms be closed for holidays?

Please download a school calendar here.
