Hi All,

First of all, I can't tell you how excited our community is to welcome you to Boise! You will arrive to warm weather and sunny skies, and fall is always a very pleasant time of the year. I was at Riverstone House (the dorm) last week and I can promise that it will be one of the nicest facilities of its kind in America.

Our official move-in date for students is Monday, August 22. At this point, our move into the dorm will likely be postponed by a week or two as a result of unexpected construction delays. Please know that we are prepared: as a contingency plan, we have hotel rooms reserved and ready for our residential students. The students will share rooms with their roommate and will be supervised by our Residential Coordinators, Mary and Margaret. The hotel is located in a prime shopping and restaurant location 15 minutes from school. As with all residential activities, the school will provide transportation to and from activities and school.

More details on the move-in on Monday, August 22 will be forthcoming in the next few days! Please watch your inbox for more information.

Mary and Margaret are currently working to finalize our first week schedule. We are excited to introduce our students to many of the highlights of our great city, Boise, during that first week before school starts:
  • Paddle boarding in a brand new park along the Boise River
  • Riding the chairlift at our local ski mountain, Bogus Basin
  • Attending a play at Idaho Shakespeare Festival's summer theater
  • Taking a day trip to our surrounding area so you can gain a sense of the beauty of Idaho
  • Touring and getting acquainted with the city of Boise
  • Shopping for essentials for the school year
  • Meeting our teachers at our Meet the Teachers event for all students
There will also be many opportunities to meet classmates already living in Boise!

I know that this is a time of excitement and nervousness as you prepare to embark on a new adventure. Know that we pride ourselves on taking care of all of our students; as soon as you arrive you will feel that you are in a safe place where students are known and appreciated for who they are.

I promise you that this will be an inspired journey!

See you soon,
null

We know that you have many questions as you prepare to arrive in Boise. Here are a few answers that we hope are helpful! Please reach out to Bob Carignan, Head of School, or Andy Johnson, Director of the Middle and High Schools, for any additional questions.

Should I share my travel plans with the school?
Yes! Please be sure to email your travel itinerary to Sarah Taylor, Admissions Assistant. She can help coordinate airport pickups.

When do I move in?
Official move-in date is Monday, August 22. Please keep an eye out for more details on the day's activities, location, and specific timeframes.

What meals does the school provide?
The school will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday, and brunch and dinner on the weekends.

We will take students grocery shopping weekly in order to purchase snacks if they wish.

The residence will have a beautiful state-of-art kitchen in which snacks can be stored and prepared. Our Residential Coordinators, Mary and Margaret, will help students with organization of snacks.

When will I know who my roommate is?
We know it's difficult to wait but we are purposefully delaying sharing roommate details until move-in so that everyone meets at the same time! We have are a wonderful group of students joining us and we can't wait to introduce you all to each other!

How will I get from the dorm to the school? Or to shopping if I need something?
As a reminder, we will provide transportation to and from school each day, as well as to school activities. Regularly scheduled shopping trips will take place as well. With our downtown location, we anticipate many group activities to movies, theatres, museums, shopping, or restaurants that will be within walking distance of the dorm.

What is the dorm name?
You may have noticed that we are calling our new dorm, Riverstone House. We've chosen this because your dorm is much more than a building. We know that our school community will become not only your home, but your family.

We are planning many activities that include our day students so that you have lots of opportunities to soak up American and Idaho culture, while making lifelong friends. We want Riverstone International School be a wonderful place for you to make friends and grow, academically and personally.

Within Riverstone House, our gathering space is called Basecamp, a reference to the fact that we anticipate many adventures launching from this area. Whether it's getting together for a pizza dinner or group trip to the movies, or preparing for a Riverstone outdoor trip, we'll meet at Basecamp and venture onward together!

When will I receive my class schedule?
Classes are taken from 8:30 AM - 3:05 PM each day. Students will receive their individual schedules on the first day of school, Monday, August 29.

What should I be packing?
Be sure to download our suggested packing list here!
