It's now only a month away until our residential students will be arriving here in Idaho! We're really excited to welcome everyone in just a short period of time! It's hot and dry here now, so be prepared for more of the same kind of weather in late August.
I'd like to introduce you to two key people in this newsletter with whom you'll be in frequent contact. Andy Johnson, whom you may have already met via Skype or in person, is in charge of our Middle and High School. Ben Brock, our Director of Outdoor Education, will be your guide in all things outdoors. Please see his note about the upcoming outdoor trips below. We'll help you with all of the preparation when you come, but you might also like to check out the outdoor videos on our YouTube channel if you have not already done so.
As you make your final preparations to come, please let me know your arrival date and flight information, whether or not you'll be traveling on your own or with your parents, and if you need us to get you at the airport. Fortunately, the Boise airport is only about 15 minutes away from the downtown area, so it's not too far.
We have important lists for you to download and review as you begin this final month of preparation!
*We can help with book ordering and arrange shopping trips for supplies after you arrive. And, if you've not yet sent me a copy of your visa, please do so soon.
See you in a month! Let me know if you have any other questions and we'll be happy to answer them for you.
Adventure Awaits!

WELCOME FROM MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL DIRECTOR
|
Welcome!
On behalf of the faculty and students of Riverstone's Middle and High Schools, I welcome you to Riverstone International School and Boise, Idaho.
My family and I, like many people in Boise, are not from Boise or Idaho, nonetheless we feel completely at home. I am certain you will as well.
I think you will find our school and Boise to be places in which you are welcome and places in which you can truly be who you are as you learn and grow in an incredibly supportive community. Our faculty and school are world class.
I am excited that you are joining us in the first year that we have a residential program. Riverstone is a place that is stronger because of diversity and because of our unwavering commitment to individual growth in a supportive community. I know that you will find interesting people with whom to explore, learn and grow, and will make lifelong friends.
Please know that the faculty and I will do everything in our power to ensure you have a exciting and fulfilling experience in the classroom, in the wilderness, and in the residence as you pursue a new horizon at Riverstone.
Welcome! We can't wait to meet you.

WELCOME FROM THE OUTDOOR EDUCATION DIRECTOR
|
Welcome!
My name is Ben Brock and it will be my great pleasure to help you experience the great outdoors that will surround you during your time at Riverstone International School. Idaho is truly one of the best-kept secrets when it comes to the outdoors! We have more miles of free-flowing rivers and more wilderness area than any state other than Alaska, and much of it is right out our front door.
While at Riverstone you will have the opportunity to hike and camp in the local foothills, backpack in the Sawtooth Mountains, raft (or even kayak!) on the Payette River, and climb at the local gyms.
For many international students who come to Riverstone, outdoor recreation is a new endeavor. Our faculty and staff can help answer questions you might have about our outdoor activities and trips. We will also help you prepare by meeting with you prior to trips and activities, and by reviewing equipment lists, itineraries, menus, facilities and more. We will do all that we can to ensure you are safe, healthy and happy when you head for the outdoors!
I have grown up right here in Idaho, have been an Idaho river guide for over 20 years, and have been at Riverstone for over 15 years. I'm confident that every residential student, regardless of previous outdoor experience, will come to appreciate time spent outside with classmates and teachers; these experiences will truly bring you into our Riverstone family.
I'm looking forward to meeting you soon!
