Now that you have "met" our Head of School, Bob Carignan, I want to introduce you to another person that you will see on a far more regular basis: Mary Stewart.
Mary will be your new "house mom" this year and has considerable background in boarding schools. Not only will she help you navigate a new school, but Mary will also help you with the day-to-day aspects of living in Boise and making new friends from around the world.
Please read Mary's letter below.
And just for fun, I have included a link to a video that the Class of 2016 created to thank everyone who made a difference for them during their years at Riverstone. Although these students will not be part of your Riverstone experience, I hope that you will like getting a glimpse into their lives and having a sense of the tight-knit community that you are joining.
We look forward to seeing you in a few months. In the meantime, let me know if you have questions!
Sincerely,
Rachel Pusch Director of Admissions rpusch@riverstoneschool.org (208) 424-5000 #3

My name is Mary Stewart and I will be the Senior Residential Coordinator this year. I grew up in a small town in Vermont, and after attending the University of Vermont and competing on the nordic ski team, I was the head dorm parent and Lead Teacher at Mount Mansfield Winter Academy.
Over the past three summers, I have attended Middlebury College's Bread Loaf School of English and will earn my master's degree at the BLSE campus at Oxford University this summer. I am thrilled to be joining the Riverstone International School community. I find great fulfillment in mentoring students and serving as a positive role model as I share my love of learning and of the outdoors. It is my aim to help students lead healthy, balanced lives as they pursue academic and extracurricular endeavors.
Our beautiful new residential facility is ideally located for taking advantage of the many cultural activities Boise has to offer. We will be visiting museums, attending theater productions, and more! The downtown Boise residential facility will serve as a venue for both residential students and day students to socialize at cookouts and game nights in order to provide opportunities to form close friendships and community.
There will be structured time during the week for students to pursue their studies in a quiet atmosphere, with residential staff always on hand to answer homework questions. When it is time to take a break from academics, there will be opportunities for outdoor adventures. I look forward to exploring the beauty of the natural world in the Boise area with you. I will be working with the Outdoor Education Director, Ben Brock, to present dynamic opportunities for outdoor exploration, including hikes and visits to local hot springs.
In addition to organizing these enriching activities, I will strive to ensure that our community is full of happy and healthy students in body and in mind. Please feel confident in the knowledge that their health and safety is my highest priority.
I look forward to meeting you at the end of August!
Sincerely,
Mary Stewart Senior Residential Coordinator
