Riverstone International School
November 19, 2015
|
 Hi All,
As many of you already know, we announced exciting news today. If you haven't done so yet, please take a moment to read my letter that was sent earlier.
Moving forward with two new projects that will transform our school is something that we all should be very proud of.
We are thankful for the amazing generosity of our parents past, present, and future for always ensuring that Riverstone moves forward and improves each and every year. As a community, we are committed to ensuring that decisions are made through the lens of our mission and five pillars, and that we always put our students first.
Please join me on Monday, November 23 at 8:45 AM or 6:30 PM in the school library for a short presentation and the opportunity to ask questions.
I look forward to moving into the future boldly with a like-minded and dedicated community.
Sincerely,
Bob Carignan Head of School

The team will be there decorating until the tree is complete so please come down and help out! MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL
|
A note from Middle School Girls' Basketball Coach Lacie Barker: "We're having a great second week of regular season. In practice we have been focusing on specific positions, ball handling, and different offensive plays. The teams improve with every game and practice so we are looking forward to taking on Idaho City this Thursday at Riverstone. No games next week due to Thanksgiving break but we will be back Monday, Nov 30 against The Ambrose School and hope to see you there! "
A note from High School Girls' Basketball Coach Wally Bashaw: "The Riverstone Girls' Basketball season got off to intense start last night in a home game against Victory Charter School. The team started out slow and shaky but managed to keep up with Victory going into halftime. With a bit of effort, calmness and change in the player lineup, the second half was a lot more effective for the team. Winning the game 28-25, our leading scorer was Anna F with 10 points followed by Vimean R, Cat C, Marjia S, and Audrey H. Congratulations to the team for a good start to the season! Please join us at our next home game against Idaho City High School at 6:00 PM."

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL SKI AND SNOWBOARD
|
Now is the time for Middle and High School students to register for the 2016 Bogus Basin Ski & Snowboard Race Program! Over the course of six Saturdays in January (9, 16, 23, 30) and February (6, 13) students compete against other Treasure Valley students on recreational race courses, in the terrain park or on the Nordic trails. Students can participate as a Beginner, Intermediate or Expert, making the program a great way for students of all experience levels to get a taste of competition. Students who complete three out of the six scheduled Saturday races qualify for the Dotty Clark Championships in February.
Please note: Unlike many Riverstone athletic teams there is no training associated with the Ski & Snowboard Program. Students are responsible for purchasing their own lift-tickets, providing their own ski/snowboarding equipment and arranging their own transportation to and from the mountain on Saturdays.
If you have questions about the program, or would like to get registered please contact Josh Udesen, Robyn Olnes, or Ben Brock.
|
Just a reminder to be aware of the safety of our students when on the school grounds.
We appreciate your cooperation and ask that everyone:
- Check the Greenbelt as you enter/exit
- Drive slowly
- Refrain from cell phone use
- Make sure your student uses the crosswalks where available
- Reserve handicapped parking spots for those with a permit
In the Elementary School, please park fully before unloading students. Thank you!
|
All of the current Lost and Found items throughout the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools will be on display through Tuesday, Nov 24 in the Elementary School Atrium.
Please come and make sure none of your student's clothing items are here as we will be taking any leftovers to the Idaho Youth Ranch. If you have any questions please contact Sarah Taylor.

A TASTE OF RIVERSTONE: THANK YOU
|
We had a wonderful inaugural "A Taste of Riverstone" event last Friday night with great conversations, food and drinks. The atrium was transformed and a performance by local musician Matt Roos of Wilson Roos was a perfect complement to the evening.
Several restaurants requested to be included in our event next year and additionally, some contacts who could not make it this year have asked to attend the 2016 event. If you missed the event, we hope you will join us next year to share a casual relaxing evening together and experience the Treasure Valley's culinary talents. Check out our photos on the Riverstone Facebook page.
We'd like to extend a huge thank you to the Parents' Association and event chairperson, Janice Clark-Wallace, as well as all of the vendors (listed below) who helped make our first annual event such a wonderful evening.
- Kibroms Ethiopian Restaurant
- Boise Co-Op
- La Tapatia
- Michael's Organic Curry Love (and the new Curry Love Desserts!)
- Papa Joes
- Prost
- PreFunk

WINTER WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
|
How do you know if Riverstone is closed due to winter weather? Our policy is as follows: - Riverstone will be closed if the Boise School District closes district-wide.
- In cases where only certain schools in the Boise School District are closed, Riverstone's administration will decide whether to cancel school on a case-by-case basis.
Please remember that if you believe it is too dangerous for your children to travel to school, you have the option to delay arrival time or keep your children home. Please notify the school as you would with any late arrival or absence. If school is cancelled, there are no after school activities or athletics practices/games on that day.
