Riverstone International School Newsletter
May 14, 2015
|
Hi All,
With so many students and parents out on spring trips, I will keep this short.
Back on campus, our seniors are busy taking their International Baccalaureate final exams. Our juniors are finishing up their week long "College Counseling Boot Camp," in which they are working on essays, making activity lists, and creating lists of schools that they will apply to in the fall. They feel the excitement that comes with looking at their next steps.
Please take time to read our new 2013-14 Annual Report. Thanks to alumna Jeanette Thornton ('14) for interviewing classmates and staff and then writing the articles on our Five Pillars.
Finally, look for senior Mackenzie R tonight on the 10:00 PM news on channel 7 (KTVB). She will be profiled as this week's United Dairymen's Student of the Week. The video will be posted online tomorrow if you miss the broadcast.
Have a great weekend, and we look forward to getting everyone back on campus safe and sound.

RESERVE YOUR SENIOR DESSERT TICKETS
|
Please save the date for two special events: Honor the Seniors Dessert and Commencement Exercises.
Honor the Seniors Dessert will be held Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 PM at Crane Creek Country Club. This special event is a wonderful way to wish the Class of 2015 well as they prepare for graduation the next day. Tasty desserts, great stories, and a class video are part of the evening's festivities. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for students (Riverstone, college, etc); and free to the Class of 2015. Cash, check, credit, or billing by Kevin Richmond are all acceptable forms of payment! To reserve your tickets for the Senior Dessert, please contact either Lisa Armstrong or Robyn Olnes. Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2015 on Thursday, May 28 at 4:00 PM at Kennedy Gymnasium (all welcome - no tickets needed)

If you purchased a Koenig magnum with class art on it at the auction, please stop by Lisa Armstrong's desk to pick it up.
If you did not have a chance to purchase a magnum previously, we have the opportunity to order more featuring your child's auction art. Each magnum is $100 and all proceeds go to the school! Ask Lisa for more information if you are interested.
Thank you to the Koenig family and Koenig Winery for generously donating these special magnums to the school for the past several years!
**See Lisa Armstrong about ordering more wine!**

When parents re-enrolled their children for the coming school year, there was a checklist of forms that also needed to be completed. This year, we need all parent information and forms (including copies of immunization records) submitted and uploaded into SchoolAdmin no later than May 30, 2015.
At this time, we have forms from approximately 78% of our parents. Only 22% of our families left to go! Thank you!
It is critically important for staff efficiency to complete the forms on the checklist as soon as possible so we can work over the summer months with the most up-to-date information. This makes a world of difference for us and we certainly appreciate your help.
Log into SchoolAdmin here to complete your school forms.
Please contact Lisa Armstrong with any questions.

Idaho Youth Ranch Collection Hut Donate your gently used clothing, shoes, purses, towels, and bedding to the Idaho Youth Ranch collection hut in our Elementary School parking lot. The school receives funds based on the weight of our donations.
This past year, we earned enough money to cover the costs of transporting our advisory groups to the organizations we helped on Middle & High School Day of Service. Thank you!

He will be entering Gr 11 next year with the plan of graduating with an IB Diploma. His dream school is MIT. Colin is a fascinating boy, not only does he love science and has his own laboratory at home in China, since he has been with the Carr family he has learned to love the outdoors, he has helped build an addition on a church, he has taken over the management of the sound equipment for the Idaho City High School and he composes music. If you would like to consider hosting Colin, you would be able to meet him before he goes home for the summer.
Alejandro is a boy entering Gr 11 from Spain who loves sports, being outside, and going to soccer games. His parents are both teachers and he has one sister. He would like to try American sports like football or baseball. He is looking forward to his year as an exchange student in the United States with a a host family.
Katharina is a girl entering Gr 10 from Germany who enjoys volleyball, being outdoors, and cooking. Her German family is very active and likes to go to ice hockey and basketball games. Katharina speaks German, French, and English. She would like to go rafting and looks forward to experiencing school spirit.
