Riverstone International School Newsletter
Parents' Association News
September 4, 2014

Dear Families,

Welcome new and returning Riverstone International School families. I am excited to start my second year as President of our Parents' Association (PA). We have an amazing group of Board members and Event Coordinators that have been busy planning fun events that will take place throughout the upcoming school year. We look forward to seeing you at these family-oriented school activities!

Every parent at Riverstone is a member of the Parents' Association. We are a volunteer group whose general purpose is to:

  • Support our faculty, teachers, parents and students
  • Promote and support volunteer programs and resources
  • Develop a closer connection between school and home by encouraging parent involvement.

It is because of the strong volunteer efforts of our parents and the dedication to our Riverstone community that we are able to offer so many events throughout the school year.

Contributing to the Parents' Association Funds is the number one way you can help the PA. These funds allow us to do even more for students, teachers, and staff.  Funds donated last year allowed us to give the entire staff a holiday and end of the year thank you gift ($50 cash per gift!). Funds also benefit classroom and grade specific social gatherings, as well as support our Merci Program. Download the PA Funds Contribution Form here. You may return your form and your contribution to the Elementary School front desk.

A link to this year's Merci Lunch Schedule can be found at the bottom of the Weekly Newsletter in the "Important Links" section. These lunches that parents provide are just one of the ways that we say "Thank You" to our faculty and staff.

If you are interested in volunteering at any of our events throughout the year, feel free to check out our Community Opportunities Google Document, which can also be found in the "Important Links" section of the newsletter.

Parents' Association meetings will be held in the school library on the 2nd Thursday of each month (first meeting on Thursday, September 11). Our meetings start at 8:40 AM and run about an hour in length. Coffee, tea, and breakfast treats are provided.

A brief description of the Parents' Association sponsored events that take place throughout the year is below. I welcome your feedback. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments:  MLGNenov@gmail.com or 415-990-4138.

Cheers,

FABULOUS FEAST: Late Spring 2014

Usually it's all about the kids, but occasionally it is fun to have an adult-only evening. The Fabulous Feasts have been a tradition at Riverstone where parents come together and share an evening to promote community building. Past Fabulous Feasts have included an Italian Wine Tasting and a Progressive Dinner. More information on this year's feast will be forthcoming.

Contact Aurelia Queste if you would like to help with the Fabulous Feast.

MEET THE SENIORS: Tuesday, April 14

Come and meet our impressive Class of 2015. Listen as they share their favorite Riverstone memories and pass along advice to younger students.

You will be very impressed with this group of kids!
