Restoring the Flow: A 21st Century Plan for Water Use with Sandra Postel, National Geographic Explorer and Freshwater Fellow
National Geographic Explorer and freshwater expert Sandra Postel knows that if we want to ensure a safe environment and prosperous life for all of humanity in the 21st century and beyond, we must change the way we think about water. Our planet is covered with beautiful blue water, however, less than .01% of the world's water is drinkable and renewable. A growing population and overuse has jeopardized our freshwater supply, which to sustain will require different policies, new technologies and a renewed commitment to be responsible stewards of this life-giving resource. The Colorado River sustains 30 million people yet human mismanagement has caused the river to run dry far short of its mouth in the Sea of Cortez. This month, in a grand experiment, scientists will flood the delta with water from the Hoover Dam Reservoir in what's known as a "flood pulse." Sandra Postel joins guest host Rachel Wold to situate this event in a desperately needed cry for a new ethic on water use.

PwC: Meeting the Millennials at Work
featuring Anne Donovan
"They're lazy."
"They only care about themselves- and their smartphones."
"They're just like any other young generation."
Cultural commentators love to make pronouncements on the millennial generation. The millennials, born between 1980 and 1995, are a growing sector of the workforce and are bringing their culture into the office with them. The large professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers wanted to find out for themselves what factors were motivating their millennial employees so in 2013, they conducted a massive multi-generational study to measure the values of their workforce. Anne Donovan, Transformation Leader for Human Capital at PwC, joined host Kate Ebner and guest host Rachel Wold on the radio show to discuss the findings and implications of the NextGen study (available in the Recommended Resources sidebar) for the firm.
