Nebo friend and former client Jim Rettew is the founder of Barnraisings, a crowdfunding site similar to Kickstarter that focuses on local Minnesota non-profit causes. Inspired by the traditional community event of raising a new barn in farming areas, Jim created the website after his idea for it won of of three top prizes for the "MN Open Idea" category awarded by the Minnesota Community Foundation two years ago. Rather than just soliciting donations for specific projects, Barnraisings also helps connect non-profits and individuals in need to volunteers who want to donate their time to help out.
