Visionary Leader Header

I am a firm believer in celebrating everything -- the achievements, the lessons, the special victories, the teamwork, and even the embarrassing moments. Yet, I am ending 2013 with the urge to make space for a conversation that's as much about vulnerability and humility as it is about summoning optimism for the year ahead.

Last week, our Nebo team celebrated 2013 and the holidays together. Eating tapas in a festive Bethesda restaurant, we did a little year-in-review, remembering the adventures of 2013. Beginning with a trip to Mexico, the year included exciting "firsts" such as launching our first online web classes and perfecting 1-day and 2-day versions of our leadership vision program, which we presented to diverse audiences throughout the year, from educators to professional athletes to corporate teams.  We opened our online store, taught career visioning to furloughed government workers, participated in a groundbreaking leadership program for women, and coached many talented and committed leaders, to name just some of our experiences.  In hindsight, 2013 was a year of amazing achievement.  Yet despite all we did, there were many lessons learned -- sometimes the hard way!

So, how does one make sense of a challenging year?  How do you harvest the insights and wisdom of experience without overanalyzing and getting caught up in the disappointments?  How do you regain a sense of focus and well-being when dealing with curve balls that threaten to sabotage your plans?   These are some of the questions that my dear friend and colleague, Bette George, and I will tackle during our January 6th radio show.  We're dedicating the show to an open and honest discussion of how to regain your focus and equilibrium in a new year when life has not gone quite the way you intended.  I hope you will join us with your questions and ideas on the first Monday in January.

I wish for you a very happy, fun and peaceful end to 2013.
Here's to the old year and to the new!

Warmest wishes,

The Best Laid Plans: Regroup, Realign and Renew in the New Year

with Kate Ebner and Bette George

How did the old year go for you?  On Monday, January 6, 2014, Host Kate Ebner and Leadership Coach Bette George will explore how to get back on track when you've fallen away from your stated plans, goals and intentions.  Sometimes, our lives must make room for the unexpected!  Sometimes, moving forward toward your goals is easier said than done. This New Year's show is the third annual conversation about how to make the most of the opportunity presented by a new year and the reflective season of winter.  Bette and Kate will review how they did in 2013 in light of their own declarations on last year's show -- and will talk about how to gather the energy and commitment needed to turn the tides in the New Year.  This show will be a welcome respite from relentless striving and an invitation to clarity, compassion and a fresh start.
