This year's Entrepreneurial Woman's Conference (EWC), Women's Business & Buyers Mart took place on September 26th at McCormick Place, Lakeside Center.  The day was filled with small business owners looking to do business with corporate and government supporters. Take a look at the highlights here
 
TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative provides access to business education, financial capital and support services for local small business owners to create jobs and economic opportunities. ILLINOIS TOLLWAY & CMS TO HOLD DISPARITY STUDY FOCUS GROUP SESSIONS
Illinois Tollway and the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) are holding disparity study focus group sessions to examine any barriers to full and fair inclusion of all firms in State contracting opportunities.  Both departments will offer sessions providing business owners with the opportunity to relate their experiences with the Business Enterprise Program (BEP) and the Illinois Tollway will also hold a discussion for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE). HACIA & IDOT TO HOST INFORMATIONAL SHARING/NETWORKING EVENT
The Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) are co-hosting an informational sharing and networking event for professional service consultants.  This half-day event allows one complimentary admission per company and will feature a presentation and networking session. NEW COMMODITY CODES FOR THE STATE OF ILLINOIS
The State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) has recently designated 54 new commodity codes as set-asides for small businesses, bringing the total number of set-asides for small businesses to 120 categories. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR FINAL RULE TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES
The U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs announced a Final Rule that makes changes to the regulations implementing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  The Final Rule strengthens the affirmative action provisions of the regulations to aid contractors in their efforts to recruit, hire and improve job opportunities for individuals with disabilities.  Please click here to read more.
