Connecting People with Nature PAGE LAMBERT Connecting Writers with Words

Sheri Griffith and I just got back from our annual horseback writing retreat in Wyoming and I continue to be amazed and grateful for the transformation that takes place in each of us during these retreats - a profound reminder that nature is our home, and we do belong to the animal world.
As you may know, Sheri and Sheri Griffith Expeditions (the outdoor adventure company she co-founded in 1971) are a huge part of why I started leading river writing journeys for women seventeen years ago. This September, my featured guest on the river will be renowned Native American writer and musician Joy Harjo (the trip is named in honor of her new memoir, Crazy Brave).
"Once I was so small," Joy writes, " I could barely see over the top of the back seat of the black Cadillac my father bought with his Indian oil money... This was about the time I acquired language, when something happened that changed my relationship to the spin of the world."
Come on the river with us. Let the canyon reawaken long-buried dreams and maybe even spin a few new ones. It's never too late to fall back in love with life.
