"Born Fat" to Be Featured at Seven Angels Theatre
A play based on the life and story of Waterbury Chamber member Elizabeth Pettruccione of Losing Weight with Elizabeth, is coming to Seven Angels Theatre in January. "Elizabeth Anne, you were born fat!" These words, uttered by her mother, have followed Elizabeth her whole life. Despite weight loss fads that promise miracle results, she just can't seem to escape the legacy of those words. Waterbury's own Elizabeth Petruccione, the irrepressible founder of "Losing Weight With Elizabeth," shares how she ditched the husky section for health and happiness. Joy can be found at any size! Connecticut Junior Republic To Host Annual Christmas Celebration
CJR is a non-profit agency that services over 500 youth per year, ages 11-19, and their families in the community. CJR is hosting their annual Christmas celebration on Tuesday, December 22nd from 3:00-5:00 at our Waterbury office, 80 Prospect Street. At this event, CJR provides youth with basic needs items (ie. hats, gloves, hooded sweatshirts, etc.) as well as a little something they will enjoy (gift card, video game, art supplies, etc.). They are appreciative of any donations from local businesses and individuals that will help provide what, for some, may be the only Christmas gifts they receive. Palace Theater to Host Winter Wonderland and Rock the Rink
The Palace Theater will host two awesome holiday events on Saturday, December 12. Winter Wonderland Family Fun Day will be a merry afternoon of affordable holiday activities for all to enjoy from 11:30 AM-4:30 PM! With admission, guests receive complimentary skate rentals (but can bring their own!) to skate on the stage. Families will also enjoy photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus; cupcake decorating; holiday craft stations; themed story time with the Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury, live entertainment; hot chocolate and sweet treats; and access to our Macy's Mailbox. The Waterbury Symphony Orchestra will also be collecting new or used instruments in the lobby to benefit students participating in their BRAVO! program. Drop-off your donated instrument and pick up a complimentary Christmas cookie courtesy of Sweet Maria's. Admission: $12 per person/ free for children ages 2 and under.

Sinatra Centennial Tribute at Silas Bronson Library
Frank Sinatra fans in the Greater Waterbury area will have a chance to commemorate the 100th birthday of "Old Blue Eyes" two days before his actual centennial at a special program featuring singer Patrick Tobin at the Silas Bronson Library on Thursday, December 10, starting at 6:30 p.m. The event and evening parking are free. An internationally acclaimed Frank Sinatra Tribute artist, impersonator and singer, Tobin offers a world-class experience - possessing the likeness of a young Frank Sinatra with the vocal talent to match. The Sinatra Centennial Tribute Concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Silas Bronson Library. The Silas Bronson Library is the public library of the City of Waterbury. Thrivent Financial Offers "Heart to Heart: As Your Parents Age"
Heart-to-Heart: As Your Parents Age is a free, 60-minute educational workshop for adult children of aging parents. It will be offered at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, 1125 Stafford Ave in Bristol on December 12th from 11 AM - 1 PM. The workshop will provide a better understanding of the impact of caregiving on relationships and finances, key information to help support your parents as they age and tips for initiating healthy heart-to-heart conversations. Wellmore Behavioral Health's 2nd Annual Festival of Lights
The Second Annual Festival of Lights will take place on Wednesday December 9th from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at City Hall - Veterans Memorial Hall (2nd Floor), 235 Grand St., Waterbury. The event will be a cocktail and viewing party with light fare, beer, wine and soft drinks. The event will feature unique, beautifully decorated artificial wreaths and trees that will be raffled or auctioned off.  All proceeds benefit Wellmore Behavior Health to support the many programs and services offered. Raffle Drawing will take place at 7:30 p.m.  All raffle winners or assigned designee must be present at the time of the drawing. Auction will immediately follow the raffle drawing. Wellmore Behavioral Health is a Waterbury based non-profit agency serving a 49 town region spanning from Greater Waterbury to the lower Naugatuck Valley and northwest Connecticut. Waterbury Symphony to Hold "Instruments 4 Kids" Drive - Kickoff Dec. 12 &13
The Waterbury Symphony Orchestra presents "Instruments 4 Kids" - Waterbury's first-ever musical instrument donation drive beginning mid-December. Community members are asked to donate instruments in working condition at drop-off sites and/or sponsor the purchase of new instruments for kids in school instrumental music programs. Instruments will go primarily to Waterbury area schools and cultural centers with music education programs that are in partnership with the WSO and to other schools as available. A "Kick-Off Weekend" will take place December 12 and 13. Instruments will be accepted in the lobby of the Palace Theater, Saturday, December 12 as part of the Palace's "Family Fun Day" and on Sunday, December 13, the WSO will accept instruments in the lobby of the NVCC Fine Arts Center from 2:00 - 3:00 PM just before the WSO Christmas in Connecticut Holiday Concert. Donors will be treated to free coffee, hot chocolate and cookies and will be able to personally hand their donated instrument to "Santa Claus" himself! Waterbury area businesses are asked to forward the Instruments 4 Kids e-mail notice to employees, customers, clients, and contacts. Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. Receives Blanket Donation
Waterbury Regional Chamber's Y.P.O.W.R - Young Professional of Waterbury Region - collected more than 225 winter blankets for the "Warm Someone's Heart" Blanket Drive and donated 50 to the non-denominational, non-profit Acts 4 Ministry. Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. is dedicated to building relationships with people while providing them with the basics of daily living needs. They invite individuals and families who have suddenly lost their homes to fire, flood or other unexpected devastation or life event to go to their facility to personally select clothing, dishes, glassware, furnishings, and other basic needs at no charge. Each year Acts 4 distributes clothing to nearly 4,000 people plus over 1,000 pieces of furniture and house wares to people of varying incomes throughout the area. To learn more, visit

Megan Charette has joined Ion Bank as Assistant Vice President of Cash Management/Business Development. In this role Ms. Charette will work with new and existing business customers to develop and flourish valuable relationships as well as manage and implement cash management services. Prior to joining Ion Bank, Megan was AVP Branch Manager of Savings Bank of Danbury. Ion Bank has also promoted Joseph Bottacari to a Business Banking Officer. Joseph joined the bank's Commercial Lending Department where he will generate small business loans, core deposits and cross sell Bank and Bank affiliate products and services. He will be a trusted advisor and partner with businesses to help them grow their business. Mr. Bottacari has been with Ion Bank since 2006, holding the titles of Teller and Marketing Analyst.

Wesson Energy Awards Top Safe Drivers
Wesson Energy, Inc. in Waterbury awarded their top Safe Drivers during the company's annual Safe Drivers Award dinner October 22nd. Mark Collodel of Naugatuck (2nd from left), Dave Fecteau of Wolcott (center), and Roger Raymond (2nd from right) of Morris were honored for driving for 10 or more consecutive years without involvement in a preventable accident or spill. Mr. Collodel, a 15-year employee, Mr. Fecteau a 29 year employee, and Mr. Raymond is a 44 year employee, each received a cash award for this notable accomplishment.
