Local Businesses Reap Savings Thanks To State's Energy Efficiency Program
Pizza Castle owner Chris Skabardonis recently took advantage of a free energy assessment by the state's Office of Energy Efficient Businesses (OEEB) and, based on their cost-cutting recommendations, will be on track to save big. The energy assessments and improvement recommendations are part of a door-to-door city outreach program facilitated by the OEEB that began early last year in Hartford and has since expanded into Waterbury. The OEEB examines the owner's energy bills to determine if the business can obtain a more favorable rate for natural gas and/or electric generation service, analyzes fuel switching opportunities, and identifies financially attractive, renewable energy technologies. These services can help small business owners see savings in energy usage and bills within a one to five-year timeframe. To schedule an assessment, call (860) 291-8832, or e-mail [email protected]. The OEEB, which also has Spanish speaking staff, has Web sites in English and Spanish. Homeowners looking to reduce their energy costs can check out www.energizeCT.com or call 1-877-WISE USE.
