The floods of Jun 16/18 in the upper reaches of Uttarakhand were
a national calamity. As tourism in the religious pilgrimages of the Char Dhams of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri was brought to a halt by raging rivers, the region has since been dealing with the aftermath, and the process of rebuilding and rehabilitation.
The regions affected are those in the higher reaches of the Bhagirathi, Alaknanda, Mandakini and Pindar valleys. We hope in the future, better urban planning will result in lesser unchecked infrastructure, during the rebuilding ; and the Himalayan pilgrimages be better managed, so such events leave behind, lesser damage than this summer.
