October 1-11
October 1: 4:30 to 5:30PM Braswell Teen Readers Book Club 1st Wednesday of each month in the Wiley Room. Horror is the theme for October.

October 7: 4:30pm Rocky Mount Fire Department and Sparky the Fire Dog will present a program on fire safety.  This is a great opportunity to educate children and adults about fire safety procedures, and demonstrate about how to protect everyone from fire dangers. Warner Meeting Room
  
October 8: Teen Advisory Board Meeting The TAB meets the second Wednesday of each month in the Wiley Room from 5:30 to 7:00 to discuss and provide ideas for the YA program.
  
October 9: 6pm- Let's Talk About It: with Lucinda MacKethan discussing "The Yellow Wallpaper" in the Warner Meeting Room

October 11-17

October 11: Arrrgh! It's Pirate Day at Braswell! Join us for a day filled with Pirate themed activities and a special presentation of "Muppet Treasure Island" 11am-1pm Crafts and Games & 1pm-3pm Movie in the YS Story Room. *Children in Pre-K thru 5th grade
 
October 14: Beginning Computer Class at Wesley Privette Library Bailey from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
October 18-24
October 18: 12-4pm (Teens) Braswell Memorial Bloody Drive: In the Warner and Wiley Rooms. Vampire/Halloween themed blood supporting the American Red Cross. For more info, contact Scott Houston @(252) 442-1951 ext. 257

 

October 21: 6pm "Boo Bash" Pumpkin judging: Bring your own pumpkin painted or carved! Treats and games galore! Warner and Wiley Rooms

 

October 23: Let's Talk About It:  with Bill DiNome discussing Surfacing 6:00 p.m. Warner Meeting Room 

October 25-31
October 25: Halloween Comic Fest: Stop by the YA department for some comic book tricks or treats. Free comics for patrons under 18 starting at 11AM (while supplies last).
 
October 25: 11am-1pm "Hello Kitty Reading Day"

Join us for a celebration of Hello Kitty's 40th birthday with the first ever National Hello Kitty Reading Day. Story Telling, reading and crafts in the Youth Services Department

 

October 25: 1pm-2pm Read, Paper, Science Saturdays: Story time , paper craft and a Science Activity! October theme is Bats and Sound. Sign up at the YS Desk.
  
October 27: Book Club 10:30 a.m. in the Wiley Conference Room discussing Bobcat and other stories by Rebecca Lee who is Professor of Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
