Financial Empowerment Program Receives Renewed Support from Weinberg and NeighborWorks

AHC Greater Baltimore's Asset Building Program, now in its sixth year, was recently awarded a $60,000 two-year grant from The Weinberg Foundation's Maryland Small Grants Program

In addition, NeighborWorks, of which AHC Inc is a charter member, extended an invitation to continue our participation in their Financial Capability Consortium. Participation provides us access to a network of fellow financial empowerment practitioners, as well as training and $10,000 in grant support.

AHC's Asset Building Program provides financial coaching, job readiness, and access to mainstream financial products and services for low-income residents at our Baltimore properties to help build economic security for the families we serve.

MonteVerde Rowe Continues to Grow

AHC Greater Baltimore recently purchased their 11th house on the 2600 block of Violet Avenue to add to the full-block of MonteVerde Rowe, in Park Heights.

To date, AHC has fully renovated 5 homes, two are currently under construction, and 4 have already sold to first-time home-buyers!

Over 20 women attended the free event, which included motivational speakers on topics related to helping young women improve their physical and mental well-being.

Thank you again to our friends at Mother Seton Academy for hosting us! Thank you also to MECU, Telesis Corporation, and Neighborhood Partners LLC for sponsoring the event and to &Pizza for providing lunch. Also thank you to our in-kind sponsors Amerigroup, COSTCO, Dunkin Donuts, Trader Joe's, Subway and Safeway

Thank you to our Urban Alliance Interns!

A huge thank you to Talia and Adreana who just completed their year-long internship with AHC, through the Urban Alliance Program

Talia assisted at the AHC Greater Baltimore main office with social media development and with our Community Impact Measurement study of Park Circle. Adreana worked at MonteVerde Apartments, helping to coordinate resident volunteers efforts.

Both completed their year with great presentations at Urban Alliance's end-of-year Public Speaking Challenge, where each intern is required to share a presentation in front of judges and an audience of peers, mentors and others, about their internship experience and plans for the future.
MonteVerde Residents Enjoy Trips Thanks to the Fenwick Foundation

A huge thanks to our long-time partners at the Fenwick Foundation for providing financial support for two recent trips for our seniors at MonteVerde. Residents attended a National's baseball game and a play at the Bowie Playhouse.

We have partnered with the Fenwick Foundation for more than three years. The Foundation provides enriching activities for seniors and others in the community who may otherwise not have an opportunity to take advantage of the many opportunities  in our region.
