Introducing Dunfield - AHC Greater Baltimore's Newest Acquisition

AHC Greater Baltimore has acquired Dunfield Townhomes, a 312-unit rental community in the Nottingham area of northeast Baltimore County. Dunfield includes both town homes and single-story units.

This was AHC-GB's second project purchased with HPET (Housing Partnership Equity Trust), a socially responsible real estate investment trust of which AHC is a founding member.

The property will undergo capital improvements later this year. The addition of Dunfield brings AHC's portfolio in the Baltimore region to over 1,500 units!

Greenspring Overlook Receives Grant For Little Free Library

A huge thank you to our partners at the Baltimore Campaign for Grade Level Reading and the Fund For Educational Excellence for providing us with a Little Free Library to install outside the community center at Greenspring Overlook Apartments. The Little Free Library will allow kids and adults to take a book or leave a book, at any time. The goal is to encourage families to read together and help improve literacy.

As a part of their campaign to ensure "Reading is Everywhere", more than 20 Little Free Libraries will be installed around Baltimore through grants to agencies such as the one received by AHC Greater Baltimore. The library will be stocked with books from community donations as well as through a partnership with the Maryland Book Bank.

New Exercise Program Helps Residents Commit to Get Fit!

Can you say working it out? Youth and adult residents at Greenspring Overlook are getting fit and having fun each week through a new on-site exercise program, Cranked Up Cardio. The new hour-long class is free for residents and staff. This aerobic fitness class joins our regular yoga and meditation classes already offered at MonteVerde Apartments.

AHC-GB is committed to supporting our residents' health and well-being through programming such as this, as well as improving access to healthy food options and other health resources.

Job Readiness Program - Getting Residents to Work!

AHC-GB's on-site job coach, Kisha Webster, has been augmenting our job readiness services for residents with twice-a-week coaching at Barclay Greenmount for over a year now, with great results.

With her assistance, residents create resumes, conduct job searches, and connect with job training programs and career opportunities. More than 20 of our asset building program participants have already found work this year!

More Green Improvements Coming to MonteVerde

Thank you, once again, to our long-time partners at the Fenwick Foundation, who donated Home Depot vouchers to the residents of MonteVerde Apartments, our 301-unit, primarily senior property in Park Heights.

Residents will use the vouchers to add to a community flower garden started last year which is adjacent to the visitor parking lot.

Greenspring Overlook After-School Art Program Spring Wrap-up!

Our after-school art program, hosted by partner Art with a Heart, is wrapping up next week for the 2015-16 school year at Greenspring Overlook Apartments.

This is the first year for the program and kids have enjoyed getting crafty each week, creating multiple masterpieces and turning Greenspring Overlook Community Center into an art gallery! Art with a Heart will continue to host a daily art camp during the summer as well.
