SPECIAL CUP ANNOUNCEMENT

As many of you know, CUP has expanded our A Seat at the Table board matching program to include trainings, networking receptions, and personalized matching services to place our members on nonprofit and civic boards. In fact, we are part of a coalition developed by the NYC Nonprofit Board Development Coalition, which includes 20 organizations that make it their mission to support nonprofit board development across New York City. We recently undertook a year-long project to craft the NYC Good Governance Blueprint, a resource for board and staff leadership which consolidates best practices, tools, and references for governance. To view the blueprint, please click hereWe hope that this resource will be helpful to you as you engage as civic leaders and encourage you to take advantage of our board matching services. To learn more about being placed on the board of one of CUP's 65+ nonprofit and public sector partners, please contact Nina Pascucci at  npascucci@cupusa.org.

CUP MEMBER TRAINING: CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION
On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, CUP hosted a Member Training on Cross-Cultural Communication. This workshop examined the dynamics of cross-cultural communication and provided tools for increasing understanding and improving working relationships through active learning techniques, including role plays, small-group problem solving, and discussion. Participants walked away with an expanded understanding of how one's own culture influences reactions, responses to perceived differences, and how to identify communication gaps, as well as gained strategies for increasing one's adaptability and managing communication gaps in work-related situations.
