Go, Cats, Go
So ends the cheer every Bobcat knows. It's usually hollered at football games, but it's also a word of encouragement for every Bobcat, whether an athlete or not. Go, Cats, Go! Go to class, go through the steps of getting a degree, go from here with what you've learned to new adventures, go and live a full life.
And on they go, graduating and taking on a whole new world which usually doesn't include summers off and Spring breaks (alas), nor final exams and twenty-page papers (hurray!) They go wiser for their time here, and, we hope for Christ Chapel participants, deeper in their faith.
We say Godspeed and farewell to three of our participants this year; Allie Horton, Raegan Mitchell, and Traci Cowan. We've been blessed by their time with us, but it is time for them to move on and be a blessing elsewhere.
The worst bit about being a campus pastor is the students leaving, but the comfort is in knowing that miles cannot change the relationship that God has made with us and thus the relationship we have with each other. "See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are," it is written in 1st John. And if we're all children of God, then we are brothers and sisters, family together and that forever.
That said, we'll still miss them. Yet maybe some good can come out of it all, if in our sorrow for friends moving on we will remember to tell those still with us that we really care. Or, as my friend Father Ben Nelson says at the end of every service at St. Mark's, "My friends, our life on earth is short, and there isn't much time to gladden the hearts of those who travel with us. So be quick to love, make haste to be kind, and be assured that God is infinitely more concerned about our future than our past. And may the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be upon you and remain with you always."

SUMMER WORSHIP: 5:30 EVERY SUNDAY
Well, almost every Sunday. We will meet through June, skip the 4th of July weekend, July 12, and 19. Then we'll be back on schedule for the remainder of the summer. |

KITCHEN PROGRESS
For a variety of reasons, our kitchen here at Christ Chapel remains, well, absent. We are hopeful work will begin soon, with permits being gathered from city officials. Among the features of our new kitchen; an ice-maker, steam tables, a commercial dishwasher, and a 6-burner range with two ovens, a flat-top and salamander broiler. We look forward to renewing our Sunday night supper program, late night breakfast Bible studies, and having a much easier time with our Monday lunch program and our monthly feeding the homeless.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?
We've not a lot scheduled, but look for announcements about tubing, supper together, and a farewell event for Marcus and Jessica Green, who will be moving to the DFW metroplex and taking on new teaching positions.

Submit your own for any new thing. Opinions below are strictly those of the chaplain, but they are absolutely right.
Campus Carry
As I wrote a few weeks, ago: In some alternate universe, the legislative proposal to allow students to carry guns on campus may sound like a good idea. The campus police, the city police, the sheriff's department, and the Texas Highway patrol don't live in that universe. They live here and now, and they say it's a bad idea. I think I'll defer to their better judgment. If you agree, e-mail Jason Isaacs, our local representative in the Texas House.
Okay, I finally got to Torchy's and... it's pretty good. The lunch-menu tacos are creative and interesting and not limited to the usual fillings. I would still recommend Exxon for breakfast tacos, but Torchy's is on point.
Daredevil
A Netflix original series, Daredevil is based on the Marvel comic and is the story of Matt Murdoch, a blind attorney by day and a blind crime fighter by night. It is gritty, dark, and an emotional roller coaster of a show. Arch-villain Wilson Fisk is attempting to shape Hell's Kitchen into his own crime empire, while Matt Murdoch is trying to stop him every step of the way. More than a struggle between good and evil, the series explores motivations, moral ambiguity, vengeance, and redemption. Unlike many a comic book adaptation, Daredevil's violence is neither comical or inconsequential. The show manages to be both a superhero action-adventure and a realistic portrayal of urban struggles. It is, at its heart, a reminder of the truth Edmund Burke spoke: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Our campus mission is to be a welcoming spiritual community, a place for people of any gender, race, national origin, and sexual orientation. Growing together in faith, we seek the unity that Christ envisions for His church through learning, liturgical worship, service, and fellowship. |
