TIRED OF RAMEN?  WANT TO LEARN TO COOK?

Christ Chapel has received a grant for the purpose of teaching students how to cook nutritious and delicious meals.  This grant will cover most of the costs for 10 weeks of cooking lessons. Each week will include instruction in subjects such as knife techniques, food safety, grilling, baking, and sauteeing.  With each lesson will come a Bible study on topics such as sharing food, hospitality, and thanksgiving.  The course is strictly limited to 15 students and will involve a small charge per meal. Students will also have to provide their own knife. We will meet to pick a time satisfactory for all (if such a time exists) on Sunday, February 9th at 5:30 p.m.  Come with your schedules in mind and let's find a time to cook up some great suppers.  If you can't come Sunday night, e-mail Pr. Jaime through the link below with the times that work for you.

SPEAKING OF FOOD, HOW ABOUT A FREE LUNCH?

They say there's no such thing, but you won't be charged a dime for our new free lunch program at Christ Chapel, held every Monday from 12:00 to 1:30.  Why are we doing it?  To extend hospitality and to let people know that Christ Chapel and UCM-Wesley make for a safe, welcoming place.

Diocese of West Texas Council to Meet in San Marcos;

Volunteers Needed

The Diocese of West Texas will hold their annual meeting of lay and clergy leaders at the San Marcos Convention Center on February 20-22nd.  Volunteers are need to help with

unloading various materials from the parking lot  and setting up inside the Embassy Suites Hotel. Also, they will be providing directions, answering questions, etc. The days needed are below:

Wednesday Feb. 19 1-6PM
Thursday Feb. 20 8-10AM
Saturday Feb 22 12-3PM

The volunteers can sign up for 1 hour or all day. However, the greatest need is on Wednesday. Even if you don't want to volunteer, stop by and see the exhibits and the vendors, and perhaps listen in on some of the meeting. It's a different experience of the church.
COOKIES FOR YOUR SWEETIE THIS VALENTINE'S

Because the Diocese of West Texas is meeting in San Marcos, area congregations have been asked to supply cookies for the attendees.  Christ Chapel has agreed to provide 25 dozen, which we will make on Wednesday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m.  All those who take part can take home a half a dozen for themselves or for their sweetheart. We'll also have a brief devotional on love, as Wednesday is normally our night for worship.

TAIZE - MARCH 21-23, AUSTIN

Tens of thousands of young adults travel to France, every year to spend time in a community of contemplative prayer. The Taizé Community is an ecumenical monastic order in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, France. It is composed of more than one hundred brothers, from Protestant and Catholic traditions, who originate from about thirty countries across the world.  Some of those brothers are now heading to Texas, where they will lead a weekend of contemplative prayer and song with young adults between 18 and 35 from all across North America.  The gathering begins with evening prayer on Friday, March 21st, and ends midday on Sunday.  The cost is $45, but because of a special gift from a mentor, $35  will be reimbursed, meaning a weekend experience which would normally entail hundreds of dollars in travel will cost you $10.  Look at

www.taize.fr/texas for more information.  If you plan to register, contact Pr. Jaime first, as if a group of 3 or more is going, he can go too.
