COOKING FOR THE HOMELESS - OCTOBER 21st

The homeless of San Marcos have no shelter, but Southside Community Center provides a free meal every night of the week. A few churches and other groups provide a meal on a monthly basis, but not many.  That is why our ministry of cooking a meal once a month is so important.  We cook on the third Monday of each month, starting at 3:00 in the Christ Chapel kitchen.  We transport the meal to Southside at 4:45 and then serve the meal from 5:00 to 6:30.  Hands are needed for every phase of the operation, from cooking and cleaning at Christ Chapel to serving and cleaning up at Southside.

ENCHANTED ROCK DAY TRIP - OCTOBER 19th

One of Texas' most amazing sites, Enchanted Rock is only a couple of hours away from Texas State and is a must-see destination.  We'll leave at 9:00 a.m. and spend a few hours at the park.  We'll then make our way back with a stop in Fredericksburg to walk the main street and see the historic Vereins Kirche.

COMING SOON ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT

We always begin with dinner at 6:15, then worship at 7:00.  Here are the themes for the next few weeks...

October 2:  Evening Prayer with a Professor
Dr. Amy Meeks, Professor of Psychology, will join us to answer the question, "How does your confession of faith affect your profession?"
October 9: What Hats are You Wearing?
We all have different roles we play, often at the same time. On this night, we'll explore roles, vocation, and discipleship.
October 16: Praying Through the iPad
Formerly Praying Through the Papers, we will learn and practice making the news we hear a time for prayer.
October 23:  God Goes to the Movies - The Bling Ring
In the fame-obsessed world of Los Angeles, a group of teenagers embark on a disturbing crime-spree in the Hollywood hills. Based on true events, the group, who were fixated on the glamorous life, tracked their celebrity targets online, and stole more than $3 million in luxury goods from their homes. Their victims included Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and Rachel Bilson, and the gang became known in the media as "The Bling Ring." Director Sofia Coppola takes us inside the world of these teens, where their youthful naivete and excitement is amplified by today's culture of celebrity and luxury brand obsession. The members of the Bling Ring introduce us to temptations that any teenager would find hard to resist. And what starts out as youthful fun spins out of control, revealing a sobering view of our modern culture. Popcorn provided.
October 30: All Hallow's Eve: Evening Prayer and Pumpkin Decorating.   Just what it says.
