Dramatic increase in number of cohabiting parents

In the past 20 years, the number of unmarried, cohabiting couples with children under 18 has nearly tripled--from 1.2 million in 1996 to 3.1 million in 2014. El D�a de los Ni�os (Children's Day), observed on various dates worldwide, is a celebration of children, and a day to recommit to supporting their healthy development. The day is celebrated in the United States on April 30th and focuses on promoting children's literacy. The National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families, led by Child Trends with Abt Associates and university partners, highlights language and literacy milestones, and ways to help Latino children reach those milestones, in this blog post.
