d_and_v-mountain-background Are you a builder?

Unless you're employed in the construction industry, you might be tempted to answer "No."

But in today's feature, we share about our recent experiences with building in Guatemala ... and the article just might lead you to think again about how God Builds Through People.

team and those assisting her with rehab. She is healing well. Full recovery can take up to 6 weeks.

Meanwhile, Dalton celebrated one year post-angioplasty by hiking in Colorado -- and passed his 6-month milestone after prostate cancer surgery with a thumbs up!

Thank you for your prayers and support for our health. We are looking forward to many more years of wellness and service.

Ministry update in pictures: how your prayers and financial support produced a MULTIPLIED IMPACT on the lives of over 500 people during our recent trip to Guatemala.

As we spent July 24 - August 1 ministering in the beautiful country of Guatemala, we couldn't help but notice how God works in so many different ways to build up people.

Building Sustainability Among Guatemalans in Remote Los Romeros

We spent 5 days in the mountains of western Guatemala working with our 16-year-old grandson Brennan and his dad, Jesse, who have committed to partner for three years with Amilcar & Hilda Carrillo in their ministry outreach through Organic Gardening / Sustainability project.

Throughout 2014, Brennan worked online to raise funds designated for a ministry vehicle to use in this work. The overwhelming response from both Christians and non-Christians led to this summer's purchase of a 2006 Mazda BT2500 diesel 4x4 pickup. This vehicle will greatly benefit the project and stimulate several micro-businesses in this community.

Working Onsite at Los Romeros

The Carrillos have dedicated themselves to teaching the families in this remote community how to grow nutritional plants to feed their families and sell the surplus as cash crops. Last summer, we traveled with Brennan and his dad (and our son) Jesse to launch the project and teach organic gardening techniques to the villagers. This trip we had the privilege of working with Amilcar, Brennan, Jesse, and the villagers to build a new greenhouse structure and pour the foundation for the project's training room, which will be used to teach people how to grow organic plants, make fertilizer using the resources available to them, also how to raise chickens and sheep, as well as cultivate mushrooms.

Lots of people - lots of work

Physical work, relationships, family, and fun -- all the makings of a project like this.

Brennan, can you make tortillas?

Concrete pour - almost done

Work happens outdoors, and in the kitchen.
But with no Taco Bell, tortillas are made by hand, and don't come out of a drive through window.

In the evenings we shared meals, fellowship, and worship with the local people.

We were excited to see how God is continuing to build up the people of Los Romeros, Tajumulco, Guatemala both in practical and spiritual ways. We look forward to return next year in the summer of 2015 for the final stage of our part in this ongoing project.

Dalton and Vicki's Ministry Continues in the City: Building Business Leaders in Guatemala City and Chimaltenango

After our service in the mountains, Vicki and Dalton traveled to Guatemala City and nearby Chimaltenango where the Fellowship of Companies for Christ International (FCCI) hosted us for three days.
FCCI Guatemala Board of Director
Training Session
Senior Staff Workshop at ALCOSA - International Frozen Foods Exporters
There we presented a total of 5 training sessions: two leadership workshops for FCCI local leadership teams, along with a private session for the management team from ACOLSA,
followed by a Conflict Resolution workshop advertised as open to the public in Guatemala City.

Open Seminar in Guatemala City

In Chimaltenango, we met with the local business leaders in the morning, and then had a large public seminar at Iglesia Alpha y Omega (with over 150 people attended that night) - open to all business leaders and owners in this thriving Guatemalan city.

The sessions addressed effective leadership,

managing change well, using conflict productively -- even maximizing relationships in the workplace by better understanding the different personality types. These amazing leaders are anxious to live out Christian principles in their businesses and communities.

God Shows No Partiality

We couldn't help but notice how God moved powerfully in each environment where we served.

He used a 16-year-old boy with a vision, partnering with villagers in a remote area, to help build sustainable businesses. He used a faithful missionary couple to serve people and introduce them to Jesus. He used small business owners and corporate staffs to cultivate Christ-centered companies of integrity. He used us to train and motivate businessmen and women. He used you to support us and allow us to serve those many people.

God can use each of us to build up other people. Thank you for allowing Him to use you in this most recent endeavor.
