Trees Please!

Credit: Daniel Schwen U.S. Forest Service scientists along with the Center for Urban Forest Research have found that the planting and nurturing of street trees brought a 500 percent return in benefits to the city of Indianapolis. Benefits and returns included storm water reduction, energy conservation, cleaner air, and increased property values.

Credit: Pennsylvania Horticultural Society America in Bloom will again have an exhibit at the world famous Philadelphia International Flower Show. Held from March 1-9, the Philadelphia Flower Show is the largest, oldest, and most prestigious in the country. This year's theme is ARTiculture, where art meets horticulture.

Another Look at Green Spaces

Research Proves For years, we've talked about the benefits of green spaces in urban environments. Indeed, our America in Bloom website contains several references to scientific studies, which can be used to argue for more green spaces, whether we talk about the benefits of crime reduction, improved memory retention or students' test scores, stress reduction, increased creativity, quicker post-surgery recuperation, better neighborhood relations or the like.
