Greetings!
The LCMLetter is published twice a month and its goal is to keep Lake County Municipal League members informed on municipal issues. As issues relevant to municipal officials arise, the LCMLetter will provide you with a synopsis of the issues and provide you with a link for further details.
CMAQ Call for Projects

A Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program (CMAQ) call for projects has been released. Local sponsors (municipalities, counties, park districts, forest preserve districts, etc.) must submit an application to their
Council of Mayors planning liaison Bruce Christensen (847) 377-7400 or bchristensen@lakecountyil.gov by January 22, 2013. The final deadline to submit all applications to CMAP is February 8, 2013.

Visit the main CMAQ page for more details, including two informational workshops for applicants to be held on December 17 and 18.

Congestion Pricing

CMAP estimates that five GO TO 2040-recommended congestion pricing projects would create $94 billion of increased business output -- defined as final sales by industry -- in constant dollars between 2016 and 2040. Nearly 40,000 new jobs would result, with total increased wage income of some $2.3 billion within a decade after the expressways open. Learn more at www.cmap.illinois.gov/congestion-pricing.

The five projects in that study included two new Tollway facilities -- the IL 53 north extension and IL 120 bypass and the Elgin-O'Hare West Bypass -- along with new lanes on the Tollway's I-90 Addams and Illinois Department of Transportation's I-290 Eisenhower and I-55 Stevenson.
LCML Cooperative Purchasing Program

Thank you for your response to the LCML Cooperative Purchasing survey. We are happy to report that the Co-Op Purchasing Committee has reviewed the surveys and has recommended a program for 2013. It is listed below:

2013 LCML Cooperative Purchasing Program
1. Crack sealing
2. Pavement marking
3. Street sweeping
4. Sewers - including lining, cleaning and television (your option)
5. Tree trimming/tree removal

Click for the Intergovernmental Agreement with LCML and a Commitment Letter to participate in the program. Please sign the IGA and select from the items in which you are interested from the commitment letter and return the forms to Chris Gentes. Only dues paid Lake County Municipal League members will be allowed to participate in the Co-Op Purchasing Program.

Please return your IGA and Commitment Letter by January 31.

These will be the only cooperative bids for 2013, and depending on the success of the program, we will determine what else to add for future years.
Please share this LCMLetter with staff. It is our aim to keep elected officials and their village staff informed about the issues facing municipalities.

Sincerely,
Christine Gentes
