"Never forget beauty: the beauty of life, the beauty of sport, that beauty which God as given us."
- Pope Francis

Dear CYO Athletics Community,

Happy New Year!

It is a phrase we have both proclaimed and received in the past week or so.  It signals a fresh start and the opportunity to begin anew.  A time to resolve to be better than we were last year and take steps in a variety of areas in our life to do so.

Similarly, Pope Francis has instituted our Jubilee Year as the Year of Mercy to begin on December 8.

Therefore, many of the monthly reflections in the year to come will revolve around the theme of Mercy and will share different resources, including these from the Archdiocese of Seattle engaging this approach to living our lives of faith.

We start with the focus on our young people. READ MORE

No Jewelry when playing CYO Athletics

Players are prohibited from wearing any kind of jewelry during play.  Please review the following as stated on page 29 of the 2015/2016 CYO Athletics Manual.  If a player or players are observed wearing jewelry during a game, the game official will ask him/her to remove.
  • No jewelry, barrettes, beads, or bandanas may be worn while playing. This includes posts for pierced ears. Unadorned, flat clips 2 inches or smaller will be allowed.

It is important for parents of children with pierced ears to come prepared to the game in this regard. We cannot allow tape to cover earrings, and therefore earrings must be removed during play, cleaned and returned to the athlete at the end of the game. It is on good authority that holes will not close up in the time it takes to play a game.

We appreciate your cooperation and preparation on behalf of your athletes.
