As 2015 comes to a close, it's a perfect time to look back at the top alternative energy stories of the year on DomesticFuel using website traffic only. Things may have shaken out a bit differently if we factored in social media, but, well, we didn't. Anything on this list surprise you? It does me. With all the controversy around the Renewable Fuel Standard (#RFS) this year I would have thought a story or two would make the top 10, but it looks like the industry and consumers are supporting biofuels through mid-level blends. China Imports Record Amount of US Ethanol
U.S. ethanol exports to China hit record numbers this year. And the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is crediting the rise to its trade mission last year that helped push overall agricultural imports to China to three times what they were just a decade ago. MORE

ACE: Tax Credits Will Increase Cheaper Ethanol Blends
Last week Congress approved the Omnibus Bill that included tax credit extensions for clean, renewable energy. One of these credits is for retail fuel station owners who buy equipment to offer alternative fuels such as E85. Ron Lamberty, American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) senior vice president and a fuel retailer, says additional ethanol blends could further increase profitability for retailers. MORE

BASF and Evogene Agree to Collaboration
BASF and Evogene Ltd., a leading company for the improvement of crop productivity, have signed a three-year agreement to collaborate for the discovery and development of novel herbicides. The agreement says Evogene will contribute by using their biology-driven computational discovery approach to find potential candidates of chemicals for novel herbicides. BASF will screen the chemicals with their proprietary advanced plant platform to experiment with their success on weeds. BASF will continue to develop any chemicals found to be successful during the trial. MORE

USMEF Hosts Pork Workshop in UAE
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) conducted a series of workshops on pork in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The workshops, designed to promote U.S. pork and encourage chefs to feature more pork dishes on the menus of their hotels and restaurants, were attended by hotel and restaurant industry professionals and food retailers in the region. Along with educational workshops, samples of sausages, salami, bacon and other U.S. pork products available in the UAE were shared and sampled. MORE
