#Ag Not on Republican Soapbox Agenda
Apparently agriculture is not a main agenda item during the Iowa State Fair for many Republicans. During the Des Moines Register's Soapbox series speeches, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham failed to discuss any ag issues in detail and only Walker and Fiorina made comments but only when answering crowd questions.MOREListen to audio here.

Alltech Accepting Graduate's Applications
Alltech is recruiting recent graduates to apply for the fourth annual Alltech Corporate Career Development Program. Graduates with a bachelor's or master's degree programs are invited to apply now through September 30. The program begins in February of 2016. MORE

EIA: Outage Increased Midwest Gas Prices
New data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) confirms that the unplanned outage earlier this month of a 240,000-barrels-per-day unit at a refinery in Whiting, Indiana, caused gas prices to spike throughout the Midwest. MORE

RFA to AMA: Stop Propagating E15 Untruths
As the biofuels industry celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is calling on consumers to support legislation to stop the use and sales of E15 (15 percent ethanol/85 percent gasoline). In a press release AMA states, "The first 10 years under the Renewable Fuel Standard, established in 2005, represent a decade of misinformation from the ethanol lobby concerning safe fuel for your motorcycle." 28th Annual ACE Ethanol Conference
The 28th annual American Ethanol Coalition (ACE) Ethanol Conference kicked off today in Omaha, Nebraska (August 20-21) with a great crowd of ethanol supporters. The theme this year: Quite Ingenuity. Bold Advance. This year also marks the one year anniversary of the "Power to the People" campaign. In the words of Brian Jennings Executive Vice President for ACE, the ethanol industry is the people. In fact, due to the success of the campaign, ACE added a "Power to the People" award and the first honorary was the Husker Ag team. MORE

Candidates at Iowa State Fair
A majority of the presidential candidates from both parties are speaking at The Des Moines Register's Soapbox during the Iowa State Fair. A total of 14 Republicans and four Democrats are on the soapbox schedule starting Thursday August 13 through Saturday August 22. MORE

Federal Agency Neglect Leads to Wildfires
There are as many as 19,000 personnel fighting wildfires in 13 states, according to the Agriculture and Interior Departments. 300,000 acres of rangeland have burned in the Idaho and eastern Oregon in the Soda Fire alone. MORE
