Corn and Soybean Groups React to EPA Decision
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced they will not be finalizing the the 2014 applicable percentage of standards under the 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) until next year. They also announced that the compliance deadline for 2013 RFS standards will also take place in 2015. Both corn and soybean groups reacted to the announcement, which impacts ethanol and biodiesel production and demand. MORE

Wetzel Blade Wins Clean Energy Award
Wetzel Blade was awarded a 2014 Clean Energy Venture Award during the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory's NREL Industry Growth Forum. The company won the honor for its work on a pre-fabricated, field-assembled turbine blade that boosts production capacity and outlasts current generation composite blades. Report: Cover Crops Boost Yield, Benefit Soil
A new report shows that cover crops boost yields while benefiting the soil and other pluses. The North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) funded research, carried out by the Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC), surveyed nearly 2,000 users and non-users of cover crops and showed the challenges and benefits farmers expect from cover crops.
