Hello ZimmComm Fans:

Winter ain't over! Chuck and Cindy made it through Atlanta on Tuesday just in time as flights were being canceled right and left. They are finishing up at the 2014 National Farm Machinery in Louisville, KY. You can find a growing number of stories and photos on AgWired and Precision Pays Working along side the team on Friday is Anna Leigh Peek, Auburn student just about to graduate. We have met Anna at a couple of events and she wanted the opportunity to get some real world experience. We appreciate her help and are impressed with her ambition!

Our latest ZimmPoll question was "What's best in the new farm bill?" Over a third of our respondents said Crop Insurance. The same percentage said Nothing. Hmmm.

So our new ZimmPoll moves on to the farm economy and asks the question, "How does farm economy compare to general U.S.?" Let us know what you think since USDA is predicting lower net farm income this year after big gains in 2013.

Unable to get the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to come to the heart of where biodiesel and ethanol are produced, leaders in the Midwest decided to hold their own "field hearing" to let the Obama Administration know they are unhappy with what proposed cuts to the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The comment period for this proposal has recently ended, but now comes the possible months-long decision process by the EPA. MORE

Senators Introduce Bill to Reinstate Biodiesel Tax Incentive   


Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Charles Grassley (R-IA) have introduced a bill to extend the expired biodiesel tax incentive for three years. The bill, S. 2021, would extend the tax incentive until 2017.

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) has accepted 26 requests for export assistance from Bongards Creameries, Dairy Farmers of America, Land O'Lakes, Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, Michigan Milk Producers Association, Northwest Dairy Association and Tillamook County Creamery Association to sell 4.006 million pounds (1,817 metric tons) of Cheddar, Gouda and Monterey Jack cheese, 1.645 million pounds (746 metric tons) of 82% butter and 180,779 pounds (82 metric tons) of whole milk powder to customers in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. The product will be delivered in February through June 2014. MORE
