Hello ZimmComm Fans:
It's a special time of the year to think about food. Next week we have the annual World Food Day which was started by the FAO and also the World Food Prize activities which Cindy will be attending in Des Moines, IA. We like to think of every day as food day!
This week Chuck attended a John Deere API Integrators Conference along with well over a hundred other agnerds. For those of you who don't know, API stands for application programming interface.
Deere announced that they are opening up their API to companies who want to develop applications that will integrate with MyJohnDeere data. The idea is that these companies, working with Deere, will develop many useful software applications that will make MyJohnDeere data more useful and easier to use for customers. Chuck interviewed quite a few of the attendees and presenters, all of which are being posted onto PrecisionPays.com and on AgNewsWire.com where they'll be available to all ag media.
You may or may not have heard about the tragedy in South Dakota from an early season snow storm that has killed thousands of head of cattle. A donation point has been created by the South Dakota Cattlemen's Association and other groups to provide support and relief assistance. You can find the online form to make a donation if you'd like here.
Our latest ZimmPoll asked the question, "Is there a difference between animal welfare and animal rights?" Per the dictionary definition, animal welfare is the physical and psychological well-being of animals; animal rights is the idea that some or all nonhuman animals are entitled to the possession of their own lives, and that their most basic interests - such as an interest in not suffering - should be afforded the same consideration as the similar interests of human beings. Looks like the majority of you are aware of the difference between the two.
Our poll results: · Yes, different definitions - 56% · Similar but not same - 26% · Other - 10% · No, mean the same thing - 8% Our new ZimmPoll is now live and asks the question, "Is shutdown affecting you?" We want to know if you can tell a difference in your daily work, those issues affecting you and your family, or if you really can't tell a difference. Let us know!
Here are some interviews from this week you might have missed:
