YEAR OF THE GAEL

Brother Ron Receives
a Fond Farewell
and a Papal Blessing
The campus community honored Brother President Ronald Gallagher with a celebratory dinner and a festive farewell party, complete with performances by the Jazz Band, Spirit Team and Glee Club. Proclamations came in from local and state politicians, and gifts were bestowed, including an extraordinary gift: a certificate bearing a blessing from Pope Francis. Read more and view a slide show of the event.

A Tribute to Brother Ronald Gallagher

A Special Tribute
More than 250 SMC friends and family members were on hand Saturday night, June 1, to celebrate Brother Ronald's eight years as president and preview a film tribute about his life and impact at Saint Mary's. View photos from the evening.

After eight years of service, Brother Ronald Gallagher is ending his tenure as the president of Saint Mary's College. In honor of his presidency, the College has established the Brother Ronald Gallagher Endowed Scholarship. Providing financial aid for our undergraduates has been a hallmark of Brother Ronald's presidency; this new scholarship will create a lasting legacy in his name and provide vital financial assistance for deserving students. Click here to honor Brother Ron with a gift (select "Scholarships" and then "Br. Ron Endowed Scholarship").

Bang for Your Buck! SMC Ranked in the Top 8% for Education ROI
What's a Saint Mary's degree worth? Well, in some ways, it's incalculable. But in terms of pure return on investment, it's pretty valuable, according to Payscale.com, which has listed Saint Mary's in the top 8% of U.S. colleges and universities surveyed. Saint Mary's is listed as No. 117 out of 1,511 colleges in the survey.

The Museum of Art is offering a major exhibition through July 14, including works from the permanent collection by Dürer, Goya, Kandinsky, Rembrandt, Rauschenberg, Warhol and many more. Also on display through July 7 are Bible etchings by Chagall and an exhibit of works by plein air painters Mary Lou Correia and Paul Kratter through September 22.

Provost Beth Dobkin was profiled in Diablo Magazine's "Women to Watch: Think Tank" feature story on innovative individuals with creativity and courage "who are changing the way our world works."

Graduate Business alumni and students took their networking event to the ball game for a Battle of the Bay between the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants.

Saint Mary's is always looking for valuable benefits for its alumni. That's why Liberty Mutual Insurance has partnered with the Alumni Association to offer high-quality auto and home coverage at a discounted rate, with proceeds benefiting the Alumni Legacy Scholarship fund.
