A Passion for Service to the Public: Generation X and Y Out Front
The voices of tomorrow are here on Monday, March 4, at 6 p.m. The College will welcome six high-achieving guest panelists -- all representing Generation X and Y -- who will address the key questions regarding the legacies they've inherited from the Baby Boom generation. Christian Brothers of Saint Mary'sWhether teaching in the classroom or engaging in dialogue with students, Saint Mary's Christian Brothers are at the heart of the College community. Provost's Update on Academic Success Midway through the College's sesquicentennial year and two years into implementation of the Academic Blueprint, Provost Beth Dobkin assesses Saint Mary's progress and the challenges ahead. Read her message.

After Ryan Coogler '06 won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film festival for Fruitvale, a number of articles noted that it was an SMC professor (Rosemary Graham) who first encouraged him to pursue a career in film. Students in a Saint Mary's class on Global Entrepreneurship learned first-hand during forays that took them beyond the classroom, as Jan Term courses often do, and into the world of real-life businesses to learn about local companies with a surprisingly global reach.
Students Look to  Inspiring Women
Emmy-winning journalist Laura Garcia-Cannon '91 is one of a dozen women who met with students in the Jan Term class "Inspiring Women in the World of Work."
SMC had a sneak peek at a film written, produced and directed by SMC Regent Lauren Speeth MBA '89. Brother President Ronald Gallagher FSC '69 has a prominent role in the film as an interpreter of Irish history. The 11th Annual MFA Scholarship Fund Benefit Join Saint Mary's for an evening of wine, hors d'oeuvres and conversation as Samin Nosrat and Cindy Pawlcyn discuss "The Language of Food."
